The owner is well-informed about vegan options and is enthusiastic about the food he prepares. The restaurant offers gluten-free and vegan choices, with the vegan options clearly labeled and homemade pita bread. The service is very fast. I ordered the falafel and it was crispy and delicious!
My wife and I had dinner at Kam Moon yesterday after work. For only $6.95, you get a pita pocket filled with your choice of falafel, Greek chicken, steak shwarma, beef kofta, beef sausage, beef liver, garlic shrimp OR calamari, along with a baked potato, pickled carrot, and a delicious fried pastry dessert called Tulumba. My wife chose the chicken and I went with the garlic shrimp. The food was so good that we each finished our meals without even thinking to share. The pita bread was fresh, thick, and incredibly tasty, far superior to the flat, flavorless wraps you find at the grocery store. The bread, which is also available for purchase separately, was some of the best I've ever tasted - warm, fresh, and uniquely delicious. The pickled carrot was crisp and refreshing, and the potatoes were flavorful. The Tulumba dessert was similar to a Mexican churro but sweeter and with a better texture. I would give this place five stars, but Facebook limits it to five stars only. After our meal, we bought a bag of bread to take home, along with a bowl of rice pudding and more Tulumba. The manager and staff were friendly, courteous, and very attentive. The restaurant is conveniently located on the corner of Cogswell and Brunswick, near Scotia Square and my office. I highly recommend this eatery for its light, tasty, and satisfying cuisine, as well as its delectable bread that is worth the fight against a grizzly bear.
We decided to try out Kam-Moon for dinner while we were in the area, and we were not disappointed. We ordered two meals - I had the chicken pita and Mark had the beef sausage pita. Both pitas were delicious, but we both agreed that the chicken pita was the standout. The sides included pickled carrots, potatoes, and tulumba for dessert. The carrots were crunchy and flavorful, the potatoes had a great spice blend, and the tulumba dessert was fantastic - like a churro soaked in a sweet sauce. We also ordered some baked pasta, which was creamy and a generous portion. Overall, it was a delicious meal at a great price, and we will definitely be returning.
I am absolutely in love with this restaurant! The steak shawarma is incredibly delicious, I wish I had ordered two! The dessert that was included with the meal was also delicious, and the portion size was just right. A wonderful meal at an affordable price. Welcome to the neighborhood, Kam-moon!
I went here today to try it out and the staff was extremely nice. For vegan options they had really delicious falafel that had a very different flavour than other places in town. I really liked them. The bread is made on the premise and omg... The bread is amazing. So are the pickled carrots btw. They also have a vegan breakfast option made of fava beans and veggies. Going back to try that next time. You can actually buy the bread for 50 cents a slice if you want some to take home. The bread itself will make this a regular stop for me. Edit: oh and the dessert that comes with the meal has egg in it so they gave me extra potatoes. SUPER NICE.
