For first-timers,... read more Tucked away on the second floor of an energy company’s two-story lobby, Jolt Cafe is a hidden gem that lucky employees get to enjoy every day. For first-timers, finding Jolt can be a bit tricky since it feels like entering an office building, but a friendly security guard will quickly direct you upstairs to the cafe. They offer a great selection of hot coffees and teas. For breakfast, their standout “breakfast sandwich” features bacon and egg on thick focaccia bread, topped with fresh tomato, lettuce, and a mayo-based spread that perfectly ties it all together. They also serve delicious muffins, croissants, and fruit-filled pastries. While we only tried breakfast, I’m sure lunch would be just as appealing. This was our first coffee stop during our visit to Halifax, and although there are other spots to explore, none matched Jolt for coffee and breakfast—though the atmosphere could be livelier since it's located inside an office building, unlike the charming 1890s storefronts nearby.
