Historically, this pub was a real favorite of me (at least a chilled london pub with a great selection of ales, a simple but tasty burger menu (with free chicke... read more Historically, this pub was a real favorite of me (at least a chilled london pub with a great selection of ales, a simple but tasty burger menu (with free chicken and pork), service with a smile and all without the effects of many east London facilities. we often drive here to meet friends for a weekburger and pint. So imagine my disappointment when we visited this week to discover a new, pretentious menu that needed us to get our smartphones to look for some of the ingredients. (there is no mention of free meat on the new menu, I asked the barman about it and he looked confused, so I can not comment that when our food arrived it was very tasty but not as good as before. I made the mistake to ask for something ketchup to go with my chips that did not go well; they no longer serve ketchup, only their own homemade truffle dijonnaise. we were also not allowed a side of the champagne stole, they can only have this inside their burger. the staff behind the bar are still friendly and the ales are still good, but they have lost their edge. sometimes is less!

Which could be better suited than to draw the hip and trendy educational hedonists along to a seafood popup in east london. the three compasses is a rather adve... read more Which could be better suited than to draw the hip and trendy educational hedonists along to a seafood popup in east london. the three compasses is a rather adventurous pub that specializes in london artisans, with this kind of cozy, tasty interior that they like in their own local. it is not the easiest place to reach if they are not already part of the hoxton or shoreditch stem. but it has the feeling that “my favorite place” it is – perfect for a cold winter night.

I think there was a problem with the ordering app because it only showed the chicken and vegan burgers. This made my decision easier because I was struggling to decide...between the impressive burgers on the menu! I had the Cluckin' Great and doubled up. It was delicious and packed with sauce and crispy onions. The chicken coating was really crispy and had great flavour. Another plus was the friendly service from the barmaid and filthy buns staff. Quite a quirky establishment but I highly recommend visiting this place if your a burger addict like me!
