Reviews summary

Nestled in a vibrant locale, this establishment combines a unique retail experience with a café serving high-quality, albeit pricey, fare. While the ambiance captivates diners, reviews highlight a mix of culinary triumphs and disappointments—some dishes exceeded expectations while others fell flat, notably a cold halloumi wrap and inconsistent portion sizes. Desserts shine, yet were sourced externally. The diverse menu boasts gourmet items amid concerns of overpricing and mislabeling. Friendly staff and an inviting atmosphere contribute to the charm, making it a memorable spot for those willing to splurge on distinctive food, but caution around pricing is advised.

Was Antoinette at Eat 17 Hackney a mag?

My dinner at Eat 17 was one of the best meals I've had in London. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. The Tandoori Scallops were a delicious starter, and my date and I really liked our main courses. I especially enjoyed the special dessert menu by Fraise Sauvage of Happy Endings Dessert nights. The space is gorgeous and feels like Los Angeles in the middle of Hackney. Overall, I highly recommend this... View all feedback.

What Bilan dislikes about Eat 17 Hackney:

Great little shop with a good selection of products but the service was 0/10 I’m afraid. I was met at the till by two staff more interested in talking to one another in Spanish rather than engage with their customers. The whole time I was being served the two continued speaking only with each other, which probably led to me being charged for a new bottle of dish soap even though I’d said twice that it was a refill. Being followed around a restaurant is never a pleasant experience. It feels very intrusive and can make you feel uncomfortable. Despite feeling uneasy, I felt pressured to make a purchase because of the constant surveillance.

I ordered from Too Good To Go at this restaurant and found that the vegetables were past their expiration date. Some of them were close to rotting. I will not be shopping here again.

I don't know how they stay open in a cost of living crisis even with aiming their goods at middle class people. Really expensive even for shop aimed at middle class people even more so than co-op down the road.

The restaurant is charming, but the prices are high. However, the bread is delicious. The customer service could use some improvement.

Love this place super clean with a really great range of fresh and delicious foods. Some items are on the pricey side, but everything is beautifully presented and the staff are friendly too. Especially love the bakery and vegetable section, so good!

The restaurant has been replaced by a shop and a snack bar. It would be helpful if they updated this information on their website.

I am a frequent customer at this establishment. I live nearby and enjoy treating myself at Eat 17. While the prices are high for everyday shopping, they offer amazing products for special occasions. However, during my recent visit, I had a negative experience with the staff. I was looking to purchase a cake to bring to a baby cinema event. Despite there being many cakes displayed with no labels, the cashier was unable to provide any information and seemed uninterested in helping. When I asked for assistance, another staff member was rude and unhelpful. Eventually, the manager was called over, but by then I had decided not to purchase anything. I informed the manager of my experience, but they did not seem very concerned. It's a shame, as the staff are usually very pleasant. It seems they may have hired temporary employees who do not meet the usual standard of service.

If you find yourself near Homerton Hospital, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. We tried the vegetarian burger and were impressed by the portion size and reasonable price. The restaurant is now located inside the Spar supermarket, which is a great addition to the area.

The burgers here are good, if a bit too saucy sometimes. The chips are delicious. Lovely bakery and nice coffee. The upstairs restaurant is closed until August and will open up again with a similar menu to the former 'burger bar ' downstairs. Friendly staff and a fun atmosphere.

2 things gave away this restaurant 's firm hipster character even before we arrived was the fact it was stationed in Homerton and the fact it is above a Spar. It is a big, spacious restaurant with a traditional, art deco style decor so not your average pop up. We ordered off the downstairs burger menu and the burgers were really excellent i would have liked to have tried something off the main menu but sadly nothing really seemed to jump off the menu at me all the dishes just seemed to have too much going on so I went for the safe option of burger The dessert was very underwhelming I will add here i am not a fan of deconstructed anything so the deconstructed sticky toffee pudding type dessert was not really up my street plus if you actually added all the bits together it would have made the world 's tiniest dessert
