Nice tiramisu for dessert too. It seems you can also order pizzas from the building immediately next door so that widens...the choice even further. Definitely recommended if near Hackney's Victoria Park.

There is a palpable relief when you step into a restaurant for the first time and see people like you already being welcomed, eating delicious food and enjoying... read more There is a palpable relief when you step into a restaurant for the first time and see people like you already being welcomed, eating delicious food and enjoying a joke or two with the staff. Also, when customers don't like what is served and they...tell the waiter and the waiter accepts, agreed and understands. This was my first experience of this charming, cosy Mediterranean fusion place and I look forward to my next visit next week. I had my mind set on Arrabiatta Penne and the fish served was spicy, spacey and delicious and filling. But I found space for the apple, apricot and almond crumble and was not disappointed. Hugs and smiles and jokes all around between the birthday party of 8 +, the grandparents taking their grandkids for chips, sausages and ice cream, the professional couple and the old timers, meant that the atmosphere was lively and loud by the time I left but there were quiet moments as well. This is fine family food served fresh and fast. I was astonished by how quickly everything came. It seems the customer's are the beneficiaries of a proud team effort and a true passion for food, eating and serving.

We had their pizza, which is as good as any New York-style pizza I've had, with fresh ingredients that were simply excellent. We even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who is such a nice guy—friendly and focused on customer service. He even treated us to a post-dinner drink of limoncello! We were actually going to walk past it, as we didn 't quite know what it was about and didn 't see any signs on the window/door to say that they took cards. However, this really jolly chap that works there, called out Good afternoon ladies with such a smile, we laughed and decided to take a seat. They had a decent menu on offer, but they were also running a lunchtime special, so we went for that, which was an utter bargain! £10.95 for 2 courses. We both had hummus to start and then I had chicken shish and my friend had lamb kofte for main. Well, the starter was a real portion or hummus and warm pitta bread, with drizzles of olive oil, shakings of paprika and an olive. There was also a sharing ramekin of tomato, onion and corriander type salsa thing, which was delish. Well, after eating that, I certainly wasn 't hungry again. The bread was so warm and hummus if such a good quality, we both polished off our plates, not really thinking that we had the mains to demolish yet! The mains arrived and it is exactly the size and standard that you would get in a restaurant that only serves this type of food. It was sooooo good. Chicken was cooked perfectly, and i liked the way that it wasn 't cubed chicken like you normally get, but they had flattened it out and cooked it flat, so every inch had flavour and tasted great. The lamb was also cooked perfectly and my friend said it was very good indeed. Rice was spot on, and there was a decent side salad that went with it. The service was fantastic, we didn 't have to wait long at all, and the lady was attentive without being in your face. Smiley and courteous. I really enjoyed my lunch here and am looking forward to being back in the area to come back here again, 100%!!
