Love going here during the summer with some friends. It is a really nice please to hang out and have some drinks. The staff is friendly and the drinks are not expensive at all.
Food but comfort level I had a rare onglet steak that was very good. It had been sliced thinly against the grain, which a good strategy for a cut that is very flavorful but not particularly tender. Served with nice fries, salsa verde, watercress salad and broiled tomato, all for My companion had the burger which is cooked medium to well done. There were little pots of very hot mustard, mayo and ketchup. Pleasant house red. It's a very crowded raucous pub. You need to be quite tolerant of noise. If your chair is not up against a wall, be prepared for people bumping you trying to squeeze between the tables. Given the popularity, it is rather understaffed so it takes some time to get service at the bar. That said, the staff is very efficient. It's slightly quieter upstairs.I might return for Sunday lunch because I liked the food, but a dinner booking at on a Friday night in a very popular pub is not ideal if you want to eat in peace and quiet.
I had the opportunity to visit this place twice, what to say: big beer, big vibes.
The Cat and Mutton offers a vibrant atmosphere, renowned for its hearty Sunday roasts and a fantastic beer selection. While the food consistently impresses with generous portions and delightful flavors, service experiences vary. Some patrons appreciate friendly staff and a welcoming environment, especially for dogs, while others encounter inconsistent service, highlighting a need for better training and attentiveness. The bustling, crowded setting can also lead to delays at the bar. Despite these service inconsistencies, many patrons express eagerness to return, drawn by the quality of food and the inviting ambiance that captures the essence of a local pub.

Having been let down by another restaurant where we had a reservation we managed to walk in and get a (small) table here on a busy Sunday afternoon. I don't usually like ordering online but actually the ordering system was very easy to use for food and we bought drinks at the bar. Considering how busy it was we didn't have to wait too long for our food. I enjoyed the whipped feta small plate and my daughter was happy with the vegetarian roast. I'm sure we would have been more comfortable if we had booked and had a table upstairs but overall we enjoyed our meal.
Just wanted to sing the praises of all the wonderful team who looked after us all day at Emma and Jason’s wedding yesterday. Nothing was too much trouble and service was slick and perfectly co-ordinated. We were served welcome drinks, canapés and a full roast dinner in the most “seemingly” effortless way but I know how hard this is to achieve. When the meal was over the room was re-arranged to accomodate evening guests and make way for dancing, all done in the most polite fashion and good grace. For an East End Boozer it was world class, Thanks everyone.
This pub is located in a fantastic area and offers a relaxed atmosphere. They have a wide selection of beers at reasonable prices for London. There is outdoor seating where you can people watch, and on market days you can enjoy food purchased at the market at their tables as long as you buy a drink. The interior is cozy and inviting, with friendly and efficient staff. I visited multiple times over the weekend based on a recommendation and will definitely return.
Celebrated a friends birthday here at the weekend. They allowed us to decorate the area and the staff were all lovely and friendly. Some of us ate and the food was really good. Good prices for food and drink, especially for the area. A really nice pub with a traditional feel. I will def visit again, we had a blast. Thank you x
My wife and I frequent broadway market quite a bit, we are a short cycle ride away. This particular Sunday we went to the Cat and Mutton for a roast. We were offered seats upstairs, but as this was table service we opted to eat in the bar downstairs, wanting a more relaxed Sunday vibe. Not a restaurant with service charge. So I ordered at the bar. Two roast dinners, a side of cauliflower cheese and two red wines came to £72.68. I thought this was steep. It wasn’t until we ate our pleasant, but not overly rememberable roast dinner that I decided to add up our bill. It transpired they added a discretionary service charge of 12.5% without my knowledge. Even on top our drinks. That I, let me repeat, ordered at the bar. After complaining they said it was on the menu at the bottom as discretionary. It was, in faded small writing. And We should have seen it on the bill, what bill? When you order at the bar you just tap. There isn’t a bill. Be aware that they are doing this. They did give us some service charge back. It wasn’t enough because he automatically just did it in a huff for the two roasts. Not our drinks or side. And They wasn’t happy!! But at least they gave it back. For us it was it was the principle. Another “pub” off the list . Oh well!!!

Good place , a pub disco on my opinion as there is a dj set also. I come here for a couple of drinks and some food with my mates and I have to say : I really enjoy the time here. The food was good, the music make me dance and it offer me the entertainment I need on a Saturday night, and the staff was really cool. The pub, of course, was full of people, at it create a great atmosphere. Suggested for a Saturday night when u don’t know what to do.
Always really like this place, good service, good vibe but it’s got _really_ expensive. I had the Korean chicken burger and when it arrived it looked like it has never seen a hot plate and tasted microwaved. Chips were nice but the meal didn’t feel worth £18. Go for a drink but I’d swerve the food.
My friends and I came in last Sunday for a roast and the host was able to find us a table quickly which was greatly appreciated. The menu was reasonably priced and the food was outstanding and exactly what was needed after going to markets all morning. I would’ve rated this 5/5 if it wasn’t for the staff. For an establishment, where the only interaction customers have with staff is when ordering (as you have to go to the bar to order you would think that the staff would have even an ounce of customer relation skills? First: they all looked miserable. Second: all three bar members served around 5 other people who joined the queue after me (which I’m pretty sure they did on purpose . After both of my friends saying I was next to order I was not only ignored by all three bar members, but then they proceeded to talk about me as if I wasn’t there and make comments about me after I sat down (which I heard Really shocked that these are the people that this lovely pub has chosen to represent them. Thirdly: I ordered a coke, so I was surprised when the girl pulled out a 2 litre bottle you can get from Tesco and pour it in a glass in front of me was a bit of a shock. Thankfully the food and atmosphere redeemed the service. Would suggest that management has a training session for the front of house staff :
