Without a doubt, this is one of the best places for fried chicken in the Portland Metro area, and it’s definitely the best in Gresham.
The place has a dive bar vibe, featuring plenty of pool tables and reasonably priced drinks at $5.50, making it a good choice. The bartender was exactly what you hope for in a dive—knowledgeable without being overbearing. Additionally, they offered a delicious Thanksgiving sandwich that included turkey, stuffing, gravy, and a touch of cranberry sauce. While I’ve seen similar items on other menus before, I wasn't overly surprised by the idea, but it was a fantastic twist considering the usual food you'd expect at a dive bar. It was truly outstanding!
The M&M has been a local Gresham eating and drinking place since the end of WWII. It offers a Restaurant with mostly American style meals. But you can get anything from a snack to a full meal. It has a counter seating for about ten. I would guess they have tables to seat maybe fifty more people in the main dinning area. They do offer a large room for groups, and many local civic organizations eat there on a regular basis. They have an attached bar entered by separate entrance or through a connecting hallway from the restaurant. The bar is a local favorite hangout and they have live music bands on the weekends. Overall, it has a unique look. So much so that it has been used by movie and TV film companies to film scenes as a background setting. If you stop in, say hello to Teddy the dishwasher who has worked there for over 40 years.
