Highly recommend, restaurant decor looks great, food was brilliant service very good. We had the 7 course menu and every course was delicious more than enough food. Good value for money I thought. Paella was so good and the dessert amazing! All served...with sangria, what more can you want..... View all feedback.
What Andréa Solano dislikes about Chulo:
I was looking forward to going here as I had heard the food was very good. The food was fine, but the Spanish theme was ruined by loud American rapper music as the background, which is not what we were expecting in the late afternoon! View all feedback.
Loved this place great friendly funny staff, eating was very nice and good size and options, dj played so made the night fun
I was curious to go here as I had heard that eating was very good. the food was good, but the Spanish thema was ruined by loud American rapper music as background, which we did not expect late afternoon!
Beautiful wine and atmosphere, but very small part of the garnish and they lacked in taste also powdery in the texture. beautiful olives and croquettes. as st kilda local I wouldn't eat here again I would rather have larger portion sizes for the price considering what is available in the opposite. the lady who served us asked what was wrong and pointed out the portion size that makes me think, she knows there is a problem.
If they are looking for good, authentic and original Spanish food, chulo is to go to st kilda the place!
As a St kilda resident I was excited to try something new and support the local community. We decided to try the feed me menu which at every restaurant the chef usually chooses some great dishes to taste and enjoy but what we received was...dry and bland. Such a shame as this is a place we would have loved to have enjoyed and revisited. Once we sent the first item back we didn't love or eat we saw the chef in the pass getting frustrated and from there the manager didn't even approach us but instead stared at us for most of the evening, very uncomfortable. Carol was great though and wish we had her from the beginning. At the end of our tasting menu we received 2 of the same desserts? This is confusing to me. Also when we received the overpriced bill for what we received the waitress said they took off 2 glasses of wine but they actually didn't!!!!! we left feeling still hungry, unsatisfied and disappointed. What a shame. My 2 star rating is generous as I don't like writing bad reviews.
