This restaurant/pintxo bar is highly recommended. The pintxos were unusual compared to San Sebastian and about 40% less the cost. They had great local beer on tap and the selection of pintxos was worthwhile to visit. Pleasant modern vibe and very busy with locals...always a good sign.
Fabulous selection of beautifully presented tapas. Refreshing local wines and a warm welcome. A definite ‘must do’ for lunch.
Very fresh and tasteful tapas and dishes. Fish is fresh and grilled on outside wooden grill. You really can’t go wrong here and will enjoy the atmosphere and location. The town itself is stunning.
Seated in the small dining room on a bustling Sunday afternoon, this was one of the better meals we had in Getaria. Ample portions of well-prepared very fresh seafood, efficient, helpful service, and great cameraderie among the many customers (locals and tourists) gives this place a unique sense of place. Really enjoyable.
Visited Getatia on our way from San Sebastian to Bilbao...Great village to stop for lunch. Full of restaurants. Politena was the best choice. The place is busy but the service was really good and the food was really amazing. You can enjoy both pinxtos and other cooked dishes. We had the razor clams which where amazing, fried local green peppers and the turbot which was really amazing. Surely don't miss the turbot...they definatly know how to cook it really well. I definately recommend this place if you are in Getaria and i would go back there when I am back in Getaria. The place is in the streets of the old town so do climb a bit and don't just seat at the first place you find in the harbour. Reservations are recommended almost for everywhere in Getaria especially if you are visiting on a weekend. We didnt have one but they were very kind to accommodate us even though they were really busy. Don't miss it!
