I just had lunch at Bistro Vitalia with my partner. My bacon-wrapped burger was seriously the best burger I've ever eaten in my life! It was so juicy and a perfect amount of zing. Hubby loved his pasta, said it was cooked perfectly al dente. The service was impeccable. The weather was beautiful for a patio lunch. I can't recommend it enough. View all feedback.
What Bridie Jakubowski doesn't like about Bistro Vitalia:
It was reassuring to be asked to show our proof of vaccination at the door. There are large plastic sheets separating the tables and hand sanitizers. Service was okay but I had the Osso Bucco and it was practically inedible it was so sweet. I...should have sent it back. I ate a little of it and brought the rest home but still could not really enjoy it the next day. Have never had such sweet sauce it overwhelmed every... View all feedback.
We went there on a Monday night and had the pleasure of being served by the owner, Jenn. The Antipasto Mista was the best I have ever had. My partner had the Pescatori, a seafood linguini done to crisp perfection in a wonderfully light herb cream white wine sauce. I indulged in the amazing Parmigiana which was accompanied by a superb house made fettuccine Alfredo. This was an extremely enjoyable evening.
We arrived on a Saturday night without a reservation and the staff were extremely helpful to get us a table. We were served by Katya and she was so friendly and efficient. My husband started with the mushrooms and escargot in a cream sauce that...was very good and then he had the Milano dish (pasta and chicken with a pesto cream sauce) and it was delicious. I had the Carbonara and it was very tasty and a generous portion. When I mentioned that it was not hot enough the cook or manager was concerned about reheating it in the microwave because it would change the consistency of the sauce. She offered to exchange it for something else or to add extra sauce. I suggested to just put it in the microwave for 20 seconds and it was just fine. I did appreciate her concern and attention. The service was exceptional and we enjoyed the restaurant immensely. We will definitely be returning.
I have been going to this restaurant for more than a decade when it was called ambrosia. but it was sold and renamed to vitalia. that's the second time I went there under the new owner. the antipasta was for 1 person. very generous and ok. the expensive lamb was pretty good, but rather small. the deserts were quite expensive and overly sugary. but what afflicted me was the price of 500ml 'house wine': $35! I'm sorry to say that this is a total one and that the waiter was ringing when he said that half-liter was a better choice that 2 glasses. so they lose the business quickly.
We were twice within same week at this restaurant. Once on a sunny warm day so we opted for the terrasse. Second time was a rainy day so we discovered inside wich was nicely decorated. Italian dishes we had on both occasions i.e. Lasagna, Bolognese spagetti and Chicken Parmagia. Excellent all three dishes. Wine list was acurately selected for the dishes offered. Service was excellent. Would not hesitate once to recommand this place in the lovely Aylmer sector of Gatineau.
The parking is at rear of restaurant without access to building. We walked in the street, there are no sidewalks, to get to the front entrance. There is a slight ramp of uneven paving to the front entrance. The washrooms are down very steep stairs....A disable washroom is available on the main floor by the kitchen, but it is not marked on the door so we needed to be guided to it by staff. It is used by everyone, so it is quite busy. The service was slow. We were presented with our bills, and we had to ask for coffee, which was offered at no charge, since all the bills would have to be re issued. the seating was cramped, but yes the food was good, my Risotto was delicious I could hardly taste my Escargots buried under a bed of cheese. the room was very noisy. All in all This enterprise needs to call Gordon Ramsey.
