What Tess Bogan doesn't like about Au Vieux Duluth:
Absolutely would not recommend this restaurant. Ordered the scampis and they tasted like rubber. I ate one and sent the rest back. I asked the waiter to please take it off my bill as I was not satisfied. When the bill arrived they had charged me for the dinner. When I went to pay I informed the manager about the situation he was very rude. He finally adjusted the bill. We will never go back. View all feedback.
We ate last night at the Au Vieux Duluth. I had the butterflied pork loin with shrimp and it was one of the best piece of pork that I have had a restaurant. The pieces were bacon wrapped that held in the moisture and flavor. It was accompanied with rice, roasted potatoes and a salad with a warm house dressing. This is a chain restaurant in Quebec but the food was excellent.
My family and I stopped at the Vieux Duluth for dinner. The reception was friendly, polite and efficient. We were brought to our table quickly. The waiter for our table was equally friendly, polite and efficient as well as being attentive to our requests. The food was something else. First, it took a long time to get our plates (somewhere between 30 to 45 minutes). The Oregano Chicken was dry and tasteless. The accompanying salad had been cut in huge chucks and was mushy. For her part, my wife was satisfied with her vegetarian plate and my sister- in-law mentioned that while her chicken was dry too, the rest was fine. I went to the Vieux Duluth many times and to various locations. Generally, the food was enjoyable. I am not certain what happened this time. It seems that the Vieux Duluth is now providing huge plates of food to the detriment of quality and taste. As an aside, I had a look at the kitchen while on my way to the washroom. I must admit, I was not impressed. I know that we were the at the peak time with the restaurant being full, however, the kitchen looks like an hurricane's aftermath. Still, I recommend this restaurant only if you are looking for a cheap place that serves tons of ordinary food.
We had a meal here as part of a tour group. We had a set menu & it was byo alcohol, (wine, beer but spirits not allowed ) The food was very nice & the service was good. It is unassuming from the outside but has a nice interior setting.
Was part of a tour. The food was good and service was excellent. Food quantity more than we could consume.Patrons were very helpful.
