Feedback
Paramount Grille offers a mixed dining experience according to recent reviews. Some diners express disappointment about undercooked food and lackluster service, including a disappointing fondue and raw chicken. Others praise the atmosphere and delicious brunch options, such as crab cake benedicts and shrimp and grits. While the noise level and parking issues are concerns, overall, Paramount Grille provides good food, welcoming ambiance, and attentive service, making it a worthy choice for a dining outing in downtown Gainesville.
The place was a bit too noisy for my tastes. Perhaps that loudly cackling woman at a nearby table was to blame. Perhaps it's the location: next door to a bar popular with the college kids that often has loud outdoor dancing going on. Its food was good, but not spectacular.
It was a disappointing experience last night and unfortunately I wish I would’ve asked for a manager rather than just paying $140 (after tip) and taking my undercooked food ToGo. Started with the Fondue, it was definitely nothing special for $18…. cheese, old bread cubes, mushrooms and halfway RAW chicken cubes. We were starving and our server hadn’t come back outside so we just ate the bread and shrooms and told her about the raw chicken. She removed it and said it would be “discounted”. In my 20 yrs of working in the restaurant industry I have NEVER had a item “discounted”. Who charges someone half the price since they ate half of it while waiting to find their server? Unreal. Our meals arrived and they were undercooked as well. It was like all the meat was cooked on the lowest setting or something. None of it had any color to it. The filet had no searing whatsoever. It was also prepared rare/MR rather than Med as ordered. The pasta dish was the same. No searing on the sausage or shrimp. The whole pieces of garlic were raw and crunchy. You absolutely can’t leave whole garlic in a dish and not properly cook it. My husband is always very accommodating to me and will switch dishes if I don’t prefer mine. Neither of us complained to each other but both of us, asked if the other would like to taste so we switched. After two bites, I knew I couldn’t eat anymore and he said “I just can’t eat this, it’s also raw”… he will literally eat anything usually. We boxed our meals paid the tab and left. The disappointment comes from: 1. me not speaking up… after working in a restaurant for forever, I HATE to complain. 2. This was my second time here and we had the same server both times. She didn’t remember us at first, but halfway through our meal she finally did. We had an app, large salad, 2 meals, dessert and drinks and ate EVERYTHING on our plates. $50 tip. This time we ordered half the amount of food and didn’t eat hardly any of it. Our server should’ve picked up on that
Excellent food and service. Have had brunch and dinner there. Both exceeded expectations.
My friend and I go to the Paramount Grill for special occasions or for a leisurely Sunday brunch. The entrees are not your standard offerings. The menu offers some unique selections which gets us out of our comfort zone of only eating what we know. The staff are always very pleasant and we never feel rushed. We definitely intend to go again.
