Cafferys - Forked River
Cafferys
Description
A lively Forked River staple, Caffrey’s offers a huge, reliably good menu—from standout sushi and bar pies to seafood, wraps and comfort plates—served in roomy indoor dining and a beachy backyard with an outdoor bar, live music and games. Friendly, often speedy service and generous portions keep locals returning, and parking is plentiful. A few dishes can be uneven and there’s a small credit-card surcharge, but overall it’s a casual, family- and group-friendly spot with strong sushi and a fun atmosphere.

We've eaten here several times over the past year, and we genuinely love the food. Today, the chicken and waffles special was outstanding—the chicken was incredibly juicy, and the syrup was simply delightful. The French dip, served on garlic bread, adds a nice twist that sets it apart from other French dips in the area. However, I always recommend trying the chicken fajita wrap; I could put that fajita sauce on everything! The only downside is the credit card surcharge. They aren't the only ones to do this, but I feel it's worth mentioning each time: there's an extra 2.5% added to your bill.
This vibrant bar and restaurant is a true local staple! After a fire forced its closure, they rebuilt it even larger and better than before. They have a lovely outdoor bar area with seating, in addition to the main restaurant and bar indoors. Our waitress was wonderful and incredibly kind! I have a particular affection for Barbara, the bartender, who is also a neighbor. However, I’m a little confused about why a plant-based patty melt is priced $4 higher than a regular beef burger. The plant-based patty melt was delicious, and my friend thoroughly enjoyed her French dip. I wouldn't recommend the blooming onion, as it seemed over-fried and somewhat tough, although the dipping sauce was quite good. Caffrey's also has a sushi bar, and the sushi there is outstanding!
We visit Caffreys every couple of months, and we stopped by on a Monday evening. The atmosphere was fantastic, and there were plenty of TVs to enjoy. Our group of four had a wonderful time. Two of us ordered the chicken parmesan over pasta and absolutely loved the sauce. The portion sizes were generous, leaving us with plenty to take home, so they rated it a 4.5 out of 5. My husband and I shared three specialty sushi rolls and one regular roll, alongside seaweed salad and edamame. The sushi appetizers rival those of dedicated sushi restaurants. Each roll was delicious, especially our favorites: the Kevin Roll and Caffrey Roll. Anything that includes their spicy tuna is a must-try; they truly have one of the best spicy tuna blends around.
Best overall Restaurant in Forked River for casual food of all kinds! Never had a bad meal in well over 100 visits! The Back Yard created after the main restaurant burned down a number of years ago acted as the temporary now life saver while they rebuilt the main restaurant. It serves as a great Beach Style Indoor/Outdoor Restaurant depending on Weather Conditions. Beach Volleyball, Corn Hole, and other Tiki type games are available along with live Music, which isn't available in the main restaurant. BTW, the Bar Pies are the best Pizzas in all of Lacey and Waretown! Sushi? Yes! They have great Sushi rivaling the Asian restaurants in the area. Definitely try the Poky bowl! Staff are friendly and professional! Tons of Parking! Why wouldn't you want to go??
Large place. Nice and friendly service. We received our meals quickly which I like. My son got California roll and he said it was great. It was a nice portion. My other son got mac and cheese but seems like it 's just standard craft out the box. My husband got a nacho plate to start and was very big. He said he thought it was good. I got the boneless wings which I thought were okay. Nothing to remember but would like to try maybe bone in. My husband got a cesar wrap and said it was good. Over all the place is good for just standard quick meals. The place is nice with good energy so I would probably come again and recommend it.
