The only thing queer about this place is the name. We like to visit the local gay bars everywhere we go and we’re excited to see what Florence had to offer, as we love the city. Sadly this night was incredibly disappointing. The bartender was very dismissive and rude to everyone that wasn’t a cute girl. He was wearing a Chicago Bulls shirt and we said “oh we are from Chicago!” And he just said “good for you” and scoffed. At first we thought he was rude because we were american. But then we noticed he would go to the women first no matter how long someone else was waiting. Including the locals. The drinks were fine but watered down immensely. The music was all outdated songs that seemed like a straight person made what they thought a gay person might like. ABBA, early 2000’s Gaga. The place is also gross. Sticky floors, ripped seats, broken bar stools and the bathrooms didn’t have soap and were filthy. I get it’s a dive bar but not a nose dive bar. All of the pictures are very very old and misleading. It’s sad because we love Florence and the first time we’ve felt judged, unwelcome uncomfortable was at the gay bar. We won’t be back but hoping some queer travelers see this and save their time, money peace of mind. Adding more to this because the owner thinks they are cheeky. lol Not only are the drinks watered down, we ordered their specialty “extra alcoholic” drinks. And I also think it’s speaks volumes that out of this entire review the only thing he argued with was the amount of alcohol in the drinks. Not the horrible atmosphere and service. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2 Price per person: €10–20
At first I was excited to find a gay bar. The doorman was extremely nice and truly happy to invite us in. I order 2 drinks totaling 5 euros, the bartender gave me change, I asked if there was a tip jar. His exact words “I don’t need it” and turned his back. OK, I am glad he makes sooooo much that a tip upset him. Sounds as if he can afford to live in a Roman castle, good for him. I then got another round of the same drinks and he charged me 10 euros…yeah there was your tip, overcharging tourists.
Locale molto carino, atmosfera accoglie, gestori molto cordiali Very cute place to pass an evening
Successfully been here twice now on two different occasions. The irony of being near a church isn’t lost on me. Andrea was exceptionally nice on my first visit a couple months back. There’s a decent crowd, the inside is pretty small but it works. Crowds properly turn up around 10ish, I got there early the first time. Second time, arrived after ten. Team speaks English and Italian at the least. Strong drinks, fab prices and welcoming patrons if you chat them up.
