Was Anonym at Cosmopolitan Queer a mag?
this is a very elevated bar with a very inviting environment. the bartender/owner andrea has a great energy, and the bar is an extension of its charismatic and positive personality. great location next to piazza santa croce and really cheap prices. I had fun getting to know natives and practicing my Italians. really worthy to visit the bar when they are in the city. View all feedback.

What Go715173 dislikes about Cosmopolitan Queer:
At first I was excited to find a gay bar. The doorman was extremely nice and truly happy to invite us in. I order 2 drinks totaling 5 euros, the bartender gave me change, I asked if there was a tip jar. His exact words “I don’t need it” and turned his back. OK, I am glad he makes sooooo much that a tip upset him. Sounds as if he can afford to live in a Roman castle, good for him. I then got another round of the same... View all feedback.

Summer may not be the ideal time to visit Florence. It is hot and crowded with tourists. The four of us wanted to dance on our first night at one of the gay bars in town and I found Queer through online reviews. Positives: inexpensive drinks, fun pop music, lively crowd that seemed to change every thirty minutes (it was a Friday night). Wide range of gender and sexuality. All seemed welcome. Negatives: the small space was uncomfortably humid in the August heat and the numerous people smoking inside (not uncommon in Europe). The age of the other patrons skewed very young on our visit. I have joked as a gay man in my 50s I am invisible to this crowd, but we enjoyed the vibe and especially the music. “Disco Paradise” was added to our playlists and it was everywhere we went in Italy. Great bartenders!

Went here on my own last night due to travelling Italy at the moment, Barman was friendly and chatty and kept me company for the night. Prices are reasonable too. I would recommend to go even when it’s out of season. Get there early as only open at the moment between 17:00pm-22:00pm

The only thing queer about this place is the name. We like to visit the local gay bars everywhere we go and we’re excited to see what Florence had to offer, as we love the city. Sadly this night was incredibly disappointing. The bartender was very dismissive and rude to everyone that wasn’t a cute girl. He was wearing a Chicago Bulls shirt and we said “oh we are from Chicago!” And he just said “good for you” and scoffed. At first we thought he was rude because we were american. But then we noticed he would go to the women first no matter how long someone else was waiting. Including the locals. The drinks were fine but watered down immensely. The music was all outdated songs that seemed like a straight person made what they thought a gay person might like. ABBA, early 2000’s Gaga. The place is also gross. Sticky floors, ripped seats, broken bar stools and the bathrooms didn’t have soap and were filthy. I get it’s a dive bar but not a nose dive bar. All of the pictures are very very old and misleading. It’s sad because we love Florence and the first time we’ve felt judged, unwelcome uncomfortable was at the gay bar. We won’t be back but hoping some queer travelers see this and save their time, money peace of mind. Adding more to this because the owner thinks they are cheeky. lol Not only are the drinks watered down, we ordered their specialty “extra alcoholic” drinks. And I also think it’s speaks volumes that out of this entire review the only thing he argued with was the amount of alcohol in the drinks. Not the horrible atmosphere and service.
