If you have the chance, definitely go and have lunch at Carla Lamont's charming small restaurant. The fish dishes are based on what John catches, and Carla uses local produce and foraged ingredients, as well as drawing inspiration from her travels. The service is absolutely superb, with a rating of 5 for both food and service, as well as for the atmosphere.

This restaurant is a must-visit for lunch. The presentation and attention to detail are impeccable. Caral explains the inspiration behind each dish and the history of the ingredients. It was our second visit and once again, we were impressed by the incredible flavors. Simply outstanding. Price per person: £100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The 9th Wave is a small restaurant in a cottage up a track 15 mins walk from the road into Fionnphort. You can drive it but we didn't. Beautiful setting. There's a set menu. First time I've eaten food cooked by a Masterchef contestant. The courses were delicious and the ingredients genuinely local. One tiny quibble: the pemmican seemed hardly worth the effort. The wine list was really well considered. Friendly Carla, the chef, introduced each course with a story about the ingredients. I'll remember our lunch for a long time. You have to book well in advance as it's not open everyday and it's (long) lunches only. My advice: visit Iona in the morning and take the 12oclock ferry back in time for an amazing lunch at the 9th Wave.
