Wendy's - Effingham
Wendy's
Description
A neighborhood quick-serve spot offers surprisingly fresh, affordable breakfast—eggs, bacon and strong coffee—and frozen treats, but experiences are mixed. Recurring management and staffing issues produce long waits, cold orders and visible hygiene lapses, making drive‑thru reliability uneven. It can suit budget‑minded families or commuters willing to risk inconsistent service, though improvements in leadership and food handling are needed.

Cant even get a jbc right! The bun was hard as a rock! Fries were almost still frozen they were so
This establishment lacks clear leadership, which is evident in the performance and attitude of the staff. Unfortunately, this will be my first and last visit. I noticed that no one was wearing gloves or beard nets, which raised concerns about hygiene. Some employees seemed to have an air of indifference, as if they felt they were too good to be there. Additionally, when I made a request, I noticed the cashier whispering something to her coworker, which came across as unprofessional. There seems to be a growing sentiment in America about a lack of willingness to serve the public. Many younger employees appear to lack pride in their work and are overly sensitive to feedback. If you're unhappy in your job, consider moving on. If you don't love what you do, it might be time to find something else. It’s that straightforward. Furthermore, it's important to keep personal beliefs at home and show up at work ready to serve. It would be great to see a shift in this attitude.
I decided to try their breakfast since I heard they recently started serving it. It was 5 AM in Vandalia, so I asked the lady to just choose something she would enjoy, and I told her to charge me at the window. I ended up with an egg and cheese croissant. It might have had a bit too much butter for my taste all at once, but overall, it was decent.
I used to work here but left because of poor management. I recently went through the drive-thru to get some food for my kids and overheard the manager making negative comments about me. A friend of mine also visited the drive-thru and mentioned that she saw someone preparing a Baconator fry without wearing gloves while taking the fries directly from the fry bin!
