What Hamzah Prakasa likes about Hakataya:
Great vegetarian options, vegan too. The food quality was exceptional! The inari nigiri was delicious. The atmosphere was slow paced and relaxing. Not a quick done in experience but well worth it. I did find a hair on my food but I did eat it anyway (after removing it) and I didn't raise it with the staff (who looked very clean). In covid terms it is a small premises and the tables are close together. Price was well... View all feedback. What K F doesn't like about Hakataya:
Unfortunately, this restaurant does not live up to its high rating. While the service was good, the food quality was subpar and the portions were too small for the high prices, which are higher than many places in London. A very cozy, friendly and tasty restaurant. Will definitely come back!
Very good little Japanese restaurant. There is a choice and it is very good. Prices are fair, I recommend

Despite its small menu, the quality of the food is exceptional, with great options for vegetarians and vegans. The atmosphere is relaxing, perfect for enjoying a slow-paced meal. While some diners experienced slow service or slight issues with cleanliness, the overall consensus is that this is one of the best places for ramen in Edinburgh. With delicious food, welcoming staff, and a genuine Japanese feel, Hakataya is a must-visit for those seeking the best Japanese dining experience in the city.
One the evening of our first day in Edinburgh we decided to have supper before going back to our hotel and saw a sign for this restaurant.
The Hakataya is a small little restaurant a few steps away from the beaten track.
I came into Edinburgh during the 6 Nations Rugby tournament so everything was completely packedI was tired and just wanted to eat and maybe take a nap.
