Reviews praise Hakataya's tonkotsu ramen, friendly service and cosy atmosphere; some guests note occasional inconsistency, small portions and premium prices.
One the evening of our first day in Edinburgh we decided to have supper before going back to our hotel and saw a sign for this restaurant.
The Hakataya is a small little restaurant a few steps away from the beaten track.
I came into Edinburgh during the 6 Nations Rugby tournament so everything was completely packedI was tired and just wanted to eat and maybe take a nap.
I wish I had taken better photos, but I was in a rush to eat! We came across this place via a video we saw on tiktok, and wow, it did not disappoint! HAKATAYA has an amazing lunch menu, with a variety of ramens to choose from. My partner attempted the Hell Ramen, and it is as spicy as it says it is. We got some sushi on the side, and it was fresh and delicious! The food comes in quickly, even with a full house. The server was friendly and polite. We can't wait to return!
