Came in for lunch since it was close to work and ordered the 2 piece white meat chicken plate, comes with 2 sides and a bread. My bf and I both got the same order, with 3 cheese mac and mashed potatoes with gravy, cornbread and a drink. My bf got thesweet tea and he said it was really good, and I got water. I'm diabetic and the only thing diet they had was bottled water(options were Dr pepper and Coke in the bottle, water and sweet tea. The food was brought out pretty quickly, the chicken wasreally good, the 3 cheese mac was good but a little salty and the mashed potatoes could have been really good if they had somesalt and pepper. Also, the potatoes were really thick and gooey, like they had been reheated. It was around $40 with tip. Theyhave a trashcan with a dish bucket on top, for you to put your dishes in when you're finished. Not horrible, but won't be in arush to go back.
Visited for the first time yesterday and had a pleasurable experience. Walked in and old school R&B was playing, took me back to when music was actually music. I ordered the baked chicken with collards, green beans, mashed potatoes and cornbread. The foodwas wonderful and very flavorful. The staff was pleasant as well. Overall great experience and will definitely go back soon.
Shout out to V?s Kitchen, soul food restaurant, 2945 S. Miami Blvd Suite 127 in Durham, NC. It?s a small Black female owned restaurant in a strip. I was a bit suspect on going inside when I first arrived. Once inside, the lady was constantly cleaning(I like that . Not many dine in customers but a lot of carry out. I ordered sweet tea (boy was it ever! , the fried whitingdinner with sweet potato fluff, cornbread and cabbage/collard mix. OH MY GOODNESS! It was R E A L Whiting with thelittle bones on the side. EVERYTHING was d lish US! EVERYTHING!!!!!!! I ATE ALL of my food! On top of that, the lady waiting onus was SO funny and accommodating. Just very refreshing. She is a REAL winner ????! So was the gentleman who brought us ourfood! Y?all check them out but they close at 7:00pm I think. Support Black (female owned businesses. This one is a huge 10!
The staff was incredibly professional and outstanding, just like the food. I have to say, the oxtails were tender and practically falling off the bone! I was amazed by the generous portion I received with my meal—I couldn't finish it all. It was served with rice and gravy, collard greens, and sweet potato pie. The waiter was not only friendly but also had a great sense of humor.
My husband and I went out for lunch and found the place quite busy around 11:30 AM, but the staff was incredibly friendly. I ordered the oxtails, collard greens, and green beans, and everything was delicious. Unlike many restaurants, they had actually trimmed the fat off the oxtails, which I really appreciated. My husband chose the fish and shrimp, and he enjoyed his meal as well. Although it was a bit of a drive for us, we will definitely return!
