Description

Vin Rouge offers a truly authentic French dining experience in Durham. The atmosphere is reminiscent of old Parisian charm, with attentive servers and a long wine list featuring classic French choices. While some find the prices to be a bit high, the overall experience is described as lovely and worth it for a memorable evening. The food, while not always perfect, shines in some dishes like oysters, beet salad, salmon, and apple bread pudding. The ambiance is perfect for date night or dining with friends, and the noise level allows for easy conversation. Wa Jeal offers a delicious and well-priced lunch deal and excellent service in a charming setting, perfect for an enjoyable meal. The restaurant week menu at Vin Rouge is described as spectacular, with delicious dishes like grav lox, trout, and bread pudding. Overall, Vin Rouge and Wa Jeal are both highly recommended dining destinations for those looking for great food, atmosphere, and service.

I never write reviews but I had to this time. We ate brunch there today and my god, this is a hidden gem in downtown Durham. We were just walking by and decided to go in and we are so glad that we did! 5 stars isn’t enough. The food and service wasimmaculate!

Place really did feel like it was a nice restaurant across the Atlantic. Staff also does their job great at making you feel nice and relaxed the whole time. Food is just as great, porkchop cooked to perfection with a nice crust and sizable fat strip.

Overall I enjoyed our dining experience here. Our server was excellent, very knowledgeable of the menu. Apps, cheeses were great. For entrees we ordered the chicken and pork chop. The pork chop was DELICIOUS. Unfortunately the chicken was a quite dry/overcooked, plain in flavor (the chicken itself) and not enough sauce to soak it in to salvage it (the sauce did have goodflavor). If you're gonna do a simplistic rotisserie chicken in a slightly upscale restaurant (especially when there are only ahandful of entrees to choose), you GOTTA be sure it's done right. Otherwise good experience, 4 stars.
