Pho 99 - Dublin
Pho 99
Description
**Restaurant Review: A Mixed Bag of Experiences**
Nestled in a discreet shopping center, this Vietnamese restaurant offers a diverse menu with a blend of traditional dishes. However, recent diners have expressed disappointment, citing inconsistencies in food quality—particularly with the pho, which lacked flavor compared to expectations, and issues with portion sizes. Service varies; while some enjoy attentive staff and quick service, others encounter communication hurdles. Notable highlights include the pork chop plate and jackfruit shake, which received praise. Though the setting may need some tidying, those seeking a casual dining option might still find value in its offerings, especially on a weekday lunch.
Feedback
The staff comes across as careless and lazy. For example, I ordered BBQ chicken spring rolls, but it seemed like they had run out of vermicelli. When I asked the server about it, they insisted that spring rolls don’t traditionally include vermicelli. I wish I had taken a photo of the dish, as it was clear that I’m Asian and familiar with several Pho restaurants. Eventually, the server returned to inform me that they indeed ran out of vermicelli. Was anyone going to mention that? Instead, I received a rolled spring roll filled with daikon, carrots, wilted lettuce, and a piece of meat — all for $10, including tax. The service was delivered with a quick nod and a hair flip. No, thank you! I won’t be returning to this place. I’d rather stick with Korean packaged noodles, some kimchi, a squeeze of sriracha, and a sprinkle of green onions at home.
Reminder to self: avoid this place in the future. The meat was too thick, and I only received seven slices in my takeout order. I recommend checking out Pho Sam or Pho Saigon City instead. The Bo Luc Lac/shaking beef was not good.
I ordered the customizable pho with raw meat, tendon, and flank. I highly recommend this place for pho in the area!
Had lunch there and we all ended up with bland food and shortcuts on the condiments for pho and Bun Bo Hue. But the biggest issue is them charging you to take your leftovers, that you paid for, with you. I have never heard of a restaurant doing that. We will not be coming back for the average food, poor service and nickel and diming you at the very end. Also, allergens beware...my son had a peanut allergy and the waiter noted that on the order. The chef paid no attention to that and our dishes had peanuts that we sent back.
