Feedback
The name of this restaurant is well chosen. In a town with a dirth of good restaurants but reasonably good crêperies L 'insolite literally: The Unusual , stand out by the quality of its food and service. Run by two former chefs of The Martinez in Cannes, the food is creative and beautifully served. Who would have thought of combining rhubarb compote with a filet of whiting ? It works, though, as do the other inventions and creations. A three course menu du marché daily specials costs just €20. Add a glass of good wine and a coffee and the final bill hardly exceeds €25 per person. Great value for money for an uplifting gastronomic experience. You can of course choose a meal à la carte which would be more expensive but without doubt of excellent quality too. Attentive and cheerful service all round. My only gripe is that, even during the peak tourist season, the restaurant is closed for two days a week Sunday and Monday . But inflexible and expensive French labour legislation is probaly more to blame for this than the restaurant itself. Reservation always advisable and essential during July and August.
In Douarnenez Center, it was rather easy to park around the Church. The food was well worked, fresh excellent. The presentation is amazing. Desserts are amazing worth the try. Extensive wine list at reasonable prices in compare to other fine restaurants in Brittany. A Must for tasting Brittany's seafood in an enjoyable place.
