Nestled in the heart of Derry, Guapo has quickly become a local favorite for those craving vibrant Mexican fare. Patrons rave about the generous burritos and fresh ingredients, praising the friendly staff who ensure a delightful experience despite busy queues. While some have noted a recent trend of smaller portion sizes alongside price increases, many still consider the value and taste to be outstanding. Whether you’re a vegetarian or a meat lover, Guapo offers a diverse menu that continually satisfies cravings. Don't miss out on this iconic spot that expertly blends flavor with a lively dining atmosphere.

Another day, another city in northern Ireland, another Mexican meal. that was a late night eating and a pretty good one. the fact that it was too late, I would give it an additional point. good old hot fresh food.
Asked for the veggie burrito but to be made vegan, the work surface was wiped down to avoid cross contamination and my options explained clearly. Really impressed. Don’t be put off by the queue outside. It moves quickly and is worth it
After looking at the various options for vegetarians in Derry, there wasn't a big selection, only three on Tripadvisor and one of them, Build a Burger, is no longer there. The good news was Guapo was among the options and boy were we glad! The food was similar to any Chipotle-style Mexican burrito place but surprisingly good! First the staff was all very friendly and helpful. The food itself was delicious and had big portions, with two sized burrito options not to mention, tacos, nachos and other items. I had a burrito with lime cilantro rice, spicy black beans, peppers and onion, salsa, mild salsa, guacamole, corn, and lettuce. It was so good, I decided to get chips and salsa and guacamole to go. Overall, it was a fantastic choice and place and I will definitely be back when in Derrry for a good burrito! Updated from previous review on Saturday November 08, 2014
This is the best restaurant in the city—everything is always so fresh and delicious! However, today I noticed that you forgot to include my meat in the takeout burrito box.
The first time tried and was amazing how the personal. my 8-year-old said it was the most beautiful eating of all time and asks to go back!

The best burrito in Ireland Had an absolute monster of a burrito that was sooooo tasty. Great friendly service despite the massive queue. The popularity of this place is only going one way.
I can’t fault the food at all, it’s so tasty! However, one fella who served us was really friendly by greeting us as we began the order, the the next staff on the salad area had the personality of a door and grunted at me then the person on the til looked at me til I spoke and wasn’t pleasant at all. All customers need to be greeted and be served in a helpful manner, Food is 10/10 just a pity some staff aren’t up to par!
Wow! What a feed, honestly one of the greatest take aways Derry has seen, it’s really brought in a diverse food scene to our city. Food is always unbelievable, staff always so helpful and friendly and they make your experience better than it already is! Reaches all food tolerances (vegan included), I highly recommend this wee spot
Needed a place for quick lunch with vegan options. The staff were patient, and helped us with nice vegan wraps. The wraps were really good.
We didn't have much good food in Northern Ireland, sadly, but this place was a highlight. I'm from Texas so I know Mexican food, and while this was not really that, it was delicious and fresh and scratched our itch for flavorful food. You can get burritos or bowls, and mine was so big that I was able to make a lunch and dinner out of it. Great option for vegetarians, too!

It is a place of burritos take away, although there are a couple of tables to sit down. He usually has a tail, but he's fast. Well charged and well priced.
Guapo is gorgeous as always never fails to hit the spot and really decent prices! Vegetarians are not disadvantaged at all
The weather in Derry was terrible yesterday, but that didn't stop people from queuing up for Guapo. I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did, even though the food was actually for someone else (I'll definitely treat myself next week). The staff was incredibly helpful, from the cheerful female server who told me, "You can have whatever you want!" to the guy who prepared my food just the way I requested, with the sour cream on the side. The portions were generous, the ingredients fresh, and the prices great. Once inside the restaurant, the food was prepared quickly. This was the first time The Golden Girls (both in their 80s) had tried it, and my attempt at changing up their usual Friday takeaway was a success. They absolutely loved it and called me this morning to rave about it. The bag of tortilla chips and sour cream was the perfect finishing touch for them. Once I handed over the food, they dug in happily and didn't stop to chat - they were too busy enjoying their meal. We (or they) will definitely be back. Thank you so much!
The burritos I get here are always a good size and they are fairly inexpensive. Can be a bit busy sometimes.
During our week-long holiday in Derry this June 2021, we made it a point to try as many restaurants as possible as we are food enthusiasts. We decided to stop at this particular restaurant after hearing good things about it, although we were warned that the portion size of the chili mince was small - and unfortunately, it was. Despite the small portion, the dish was delicious and fresh. I would consider asking for more mince next time, even if it means an extra cost. The lettuce was crisp and fresh, and the sour cream on top was a nice touch. Overall, the meal was tasty, quick, and easy to grab and go. I would definitely come back again.

This place is significantly better than Bojum and even more affordable. The portions are very generous and incredibly satisfying!
The prices are quite reasonable. The food was extremely delicious and very fresh. The portions were generous. I had a vegetarian burrito stuffed with guacamole, mushrooms, onions, and salad. I would definitely return if I find myself in Derry again.
I inquired about the Veggie Burrito and requested it to be made vegan. I was pleased to see that the staff wiped down the preparation area to prevent cross-contamination and clarify my choices. I was really impressed by their attention to detail. Don’t be deterred by the line that stretches outside; it moves quickly and is definitely worth the wait!
