What Abby Schowalter doesn't like about Fu Manchu Darlinghurst:
Coming to this restaurant I was expecting high end style food due to the fancy decor of the place, with romantic dim lighting and modern Asian style decor (also, the prices on the menu was very expensive). read moreFu Manchu is a long-standing restaurant in Darlinghurst that has evolved over the years. The restaurant, now located on Darlinghurst Road, boasts beautiful Shanghai girls art and carved wooden screens. The dishes, such as the rendang and salad, are delicious, although some find the portions to be on the smaller side. The high-end ambiance and prices may give off the expectation of exceptional food, with dishes like Beijing duck and pork belly standing out. However, some find the food to be a bit too sweet, possibly due to the influence of Thai and Indian chefs on the menu. For those looking for a late-night takeaway option, the wonton chicken broth with egg noodles receives high praise for its delicious broth and perfectly cooked chicken. The authentic and flavorful dishes, such as the sambal and curry, are reminiscent of home-cooked meals. Overall, Fu Manchu offers great food, friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere that keeps diners coming back for more.
