Great ambiance and service. Menu del dia portions very generous €16 pp. well prepared fresh ingredients. Hidden gem in Cuenca.
Pícaro is a bar located in the old town of Cuenca, a city in the center of Spain. We came here to have the last dinner in our holidays in the region and we decided to share some tapas like morteruelo, ajoarriero and pisto (local tapas), migas, croquettes of cod and cured beef with red peppers and scrambled eggs with cured ham. Very good last dinner with friends. Also, I drank a different beer done in a wine barrel of Jerez liquor and a home-made cake. It has a young atmosphere and the decoration is also different. Very good.
We watched the Spain-Japan World Cup match here while having wonderful food and drink. At least on a weekday night in December, Picaro was very quiet and it was easy to get a table. The samplers of local food were delicious,, and the single waitperson was very patient with our lack of Spanish language skills. We had a great time here watching the match and chatting with other visitors doing the same. A very memorable evening.
Walked out after bar staff ignored us. We sat at the table next to the bar, waited over 10 minutes for service. Other tables who came in after us were served promptly. No eye contact, no acknowledgment. Not good.
Yikes. Don’t get the burger. They had a whole page dedicated to them so I figured that would be a good pick. NOPE. It was poor quality meat and overcooked although there were spots of pink on the outside, which leave to me to believe it was maybe cooked in a microwave?? Regardless, not ok. I couldn’t eat even a bite. Very hardworking staff here, so I felt bad about making an issue of it but not paying for something that was inedible.

A great little bar. eating was good and service good. we especially liked half the roller from the wall above our table! beautiful little foundation. I'd be ashamed to serve that on a plate. No slow service. Of course, I can only recommend that you look for another place in the area because there are many and the atmosphere with the hanging houses is unbeatable.
I ordered the angus burger, and he didn't get me. It's not like it was bad, but I've tried them a lot better somewhere else. Maybe they did too much, you'll have to give him another chance.
We have enjoyed a lot of food and good atmosphere. the place of drinks was transformed at the end of the dinner. It wasn't what we were looking for at the time, but we found it interesting to continue enjoying the evening
