Spice Central - Cowes
Spice Central
Description
Spice Central in Cowes has received mixed reviews from patrons. While some were satisfied with the quality and portions of the food, others were disappointed with aspects such as service and communication issues with the staff. The restaurant's diverse menu tries to cater to various preferences, but some found the flavors to be bland. Despite these mixed reactions, Spice Central seems to have some loyal patrons who enjoy dishes like the Goan fish curry and Sally lamb. Overall, it appears that the restaurant's experience can vary depending on individual preferences and expectations.

The evening got off to a bad start, our waiter didn't seem to understand much English, or at least English the way we speak it. My wife had to repeat her order from the top to a second waiter. However, once Chef had been told...what was required we received exactly what we wanted. My lamb starter was excellent and we both had a Goan style main; I had a prawn curry and my wife a fish curry, which were both very flavoursome with a decent quantity of the advertised fish. The disppointment of the evening was to find that they don't have any desserts on the menu, I always look forward to having a very sweet Indian pudding after a good main meal, but no such luck this time. Apparently the locals don't want desserts. Shame! But we were given a free glass of Baileys as compensation, so I can't really complain too much.
First visit to Cowes during the sailing season and had a lovely weekend. Off team sailing team chose to come to Spice. Big meal
It was the best curry night I've had in years! We moved to cows and use spice all the time, I had doubts about Elvis night but I'm a converter now. Well done guys for making the place a success and wish you...the best.
I recently went to a sailing event in Cowes last week, which was my first visit to the island. We decided to go to Spice Central for our Friday night curry. The restaurant was bustling and the staff were very attentive. We may have had a bit too many Cobras, but overall, it was a very enjoyable evening. I look forward to visiting Cowes again in the future.
The food was absolutely great, tasty and proper portion as well. We asked for halal meat and they were uncertain whether or not they had any options and this was frustrating especially because on the website it said “halal”..the service was ok all together expect for the loud chatting between them and constant banging of cutleries and squeaking trolleys being carried around the restaurant. I also would have expected Indian music which unfortunately was replaced by some sort of loud commercial one. I would go back for the food but not for the service, sorry.
