We stayed here to attend a wedding anniversary for some very close friends. We travelled with our 19 month old dog for his first trip away from home. The hotel was very clean and comfortable with excellent food for both evening and breakfast meals. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, and made us feel very welcome, particularly our young puppy, who was on a special diet, which the hotel arranged to keep in a cool place for us. All in all, it was a lovely venue for visiting the area and meeting up with old friends for their celebration.
We took the two executive en suite bedrooms at the northern end of the hotel, overlooking the basin into which three rivers flow. Depending on the weather and the state of the tide, the view was constantly changing, and we woke in the morning to the cries of the curlew and oystercatcher. The bar is large and comfortable, and the food in the dining-room, whether at breakfast or dinner, varied and excellent.
My family visited this restaurant as a special treat, as we all work hard. Unfortunately, it was a waste of money. The prawn and crayfish salad was drenched in mayonnaise and very disappointing. The chicken burger was so tough that it was impossible to cut. The prawn starter and garlic mushrooms were only average. We skipped dessert and have no plans to return to this restaurant.
We decided to stop by for lunch on a whim and we're glad we did. The food was delicious and everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. The seafood platter was exceptional, so kudos to the chef working that afternoon. We sat in the bar area since we had our dog with us, and it was a lovely seating area.
