Description

Nestled in the heart of the countryside, this charming pub and hotel exude warmth and genuine hospitality. Visitors rave about the friendly and attentive staff, who go above and beyond to ensure a delightful experience. The ambiance is cozy, with clean, spacious rooms and a lovely garden perfect for outdoor lounging. While the food offerings are varied, reviews mention inconsistencies in execution, particularly with certain dishes like the wild boar burger and rack of lamb. Despite this, highlights such as the creme brûlée and hearty breakfast leave a positive impression. Overall, guests find it a welcoming retreat worth revisiting.

Watched the football and had a lovely meal. Very nice and welcoming, would definitely go back if in the area again.

We had a fabulous day here. We’d walked Scafell Pike during the day and booked an Annex as we have a dog. Barbara was so warm and welcoming she told us about local spots and where to go, and even moved round a few things so she could fit us in for dinner that evening (I’d recommend booking ahead on a Saturday). Food was good pub food, drinks great, dog was SPOILT (many sausages from the kitchen) and we had a great time. Rooms had everything you needed, and breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious. Well worth the visit if also climbing the mountains and want somewhere to crash.

This was a fabulous place to stay. We had a warm welcome and our room was great. Decorated to a high standard, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and informative. We ate in the restaurant that night and food was delicious. Highly recommend their pies. Breakfast was equally as good. We will definitely return.
