Over the past three weeks, it’s taken 30 minutes just to get $25 worth of diesel. Normally, I spend about $120 to fill up my truck, and I simply don’t have an hour to wait. Each time I’ve mentioned this to the staff, they all say the same thing: they can’t help because it’s not their responsibility. Clearly, something needs to be done about this. It might be more convenient to go somewhere else!

On the way, I typic... read more I’m a 72-year-old Black basketball coach from Swainsboro, GA, and I usually travel daily from my home in Claxton to Swainsboro for practice. On the way, I typically stop in Metter to get potato logs to eat and take my medication. I’ve never had any problems there—kind people, good service. Recently, I started stopping at Parker’s Kitchen in Claxton so I wouldn’t have to rush to Metter before they stop serving at 4 o’clock. However, I noticed that in every box of eight potato logs I bought in Claxton, about half were extremely small, barely the size of my pinky finger. When I mentioned this to some friends, they said I wasn’t the only one with this complaint. Several people have also told me that white servers tend to give larger portions to white customers and smaller portions to Black customers. Unfortunately, this doesn’t surprise me given my experience in Claxton. Because of this, I won’t be returning to the Claxton store unless absolutely necessary. I also agree with others about the attitude of the staff there—someone needs to remind them that they aren’t doing us a favor by working there. There are plenty of other places where we can spend our money.

They no longer have the CBD products I rely on, and today I almost slipped at pump 4 because of a spill—it could have led to a serious injury. Considering there are a lot of elderly residents in this town, it could have posed an even greater risk for them. When my husband asked if they could clean up the spill, they declined. If you ever face a lawsuit for not using a spill kit at your gas pumps, just remember it's your own doing.

The self-service system is a disaster, and it... read more I've been a customer of Parker's since the brothers opened their location in Claxton, but I won't be coming back. The self-service system is a disaster, and it seems like the whole town agrees. Before they introduced self-service, the drive-in provided quick and friendly service. Now, there’s always a long wait, and often you have to stand in line before you can even place your order. I'm sure there are reasons for these changes, but I don’t get it. Goodbye, chewy ice.

None of the soda fountains had ice available, and the outdoor trash cans were overflowing. The bins that typically hold window washer cleaner were completely empty, as if they hadn't been refilled in days. Meanwhile, the staff seemed more interested in joking and chatting with one another or scrolling through their phones instead of addressing the needs of the customers. It was quite a letdown.
