Sago offers a delightful experience for fans of authentic Malaysian and Indonesian cuisine. With a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and meticulously prepared dishes, patrons rave about the flavors and freshness of the food. Standout items include the beef rendang and pork dumplings, though some diners note that portion sizes could be more generous, especially for takeout. Sago is a snug Malaysian spot with just a handful of tables, so expect a short wait during peak hours. The menu centers on individualized rice and noodle plates plus BBQ meats, with less emphasis on family-style dishes and unfortunately no Kway Teow. From our visit, the standouts included the egg-coated shrimp and rich beef Rendang. While the Hainanese chicken noodles were flavorful, it was a touch sesame-heavy. Over... View all feedback.

What Rachel Range dislikes about Sago:
I tried Sago for the first time today. Everyone is friendly and hospitable. I got the Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang, Roast Duck Meal, and the Chicken curry puffs. Everything was delicious, though the roasted duck was not as crispy as I feel it should have been. My biggest complaint is the portion sizes. I got takeout and got home and opened it and had to double check and make sure I didn't somehow order an appetizer b... View all feedback.

This restaurant is something special. While I haven't had much Malaysian or Indonesian cuisine before, I have a feeling that Anthony Bourdain would have enjoyed eating here. The chicken is chopped bone-in and the dumplings are made fresh to order, served with gochujang slaw as a garnish. Everything I have tried at Sago has been made with care and attention. Despite opening in 2019 and facing the challenges of the pandemic, the restaurant has managed to survive mainly on takeout orders. Many customers still choose to enjoy their food to go, so if you decide to dine in, be prepared to wait a bit as your order may not be first in line. The restaurant has a bright and welcoming storefront atmosphere, making it a pleasant spot to watch the Mt Lookout neighborhood pass by.

I would give this restaurant six stars if I could! The broths were excellent and my crispy pork belly was cooked perfectly. We can't wait to dine here again!

Looking for authentic Malaysian cuisine in the city? Look no further than Sago! With a peaceful and cozy atmosphere, and a skilled chef with years of experience in Malaysian cooking, Sago has quickly become my go-to restaurant. The staff treats you like family and the food is absolutely delicious. It is the perfect dining spot for vegans, offering a variety of animal-free and vegan options. Don't miss out on the opportunity to dine at this fantastic restaurant, Sago!

Very good food, in just the right portion sizes. We had the pork dumpling appetizers, and they were fresh and tasty. If you want tasty southern Asian food in a pleasant atmosphere, with great service, this is your place.

I was beyond excited to have an authentic Indonesian restaurant after going to Indonesia. The food is spot on and better than what I had in Indonesia. The food is always fresh, delicious, authentic and reasonably priced.Chef Paul is so nice that when I requested a dish that wasn't on the menu, he offered to make it for me.I recommend beef rendang. It was voted the world's best food and rightfully so. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed!
