Fred told me they are only open for lunch he is in there early morning making everything fresh each day.

Heard about Fred Gari's from a friend. Decided to stop in to grab a sandwich to eat on Fountain Square. It was busy usually a good sign for a restaurant. I orde... read more Heard about Fred Gari's from a friend. Decided to stop in to grab a sandwich to eat on Fountain Square. It was busy usually a good sign for a restaurant. I ordered the Reuben based on other reviews. I also went with Greek pasta salad and a brownie. Because I was a first timer, they added an free cookie. The guys had a local flair that got them extra points. They were a bit disorganized causing it to take a little longer to fill orders and they messed up and gave my friend the wrong drink. The food was good, but I would try other sandwiches on my next visit. Their rye was a bit thin and soggy for me. Corned beef was good, but not as plentiful as other downtown restaurants. Sides were great. Overall I liked the place and would order ahead for pickup. Good stop for a nice lunch on the square.

The roasted chicken sandwich was really good. I've had the chicken salad sandwich which was mediocre. The sides are pretty good, especially the Greek pasta. Prices are decent. I love salads, particularly Cobb salads, but I would skip it and the spinach salad.
