I recently dined at this pub for lunch. The ambiance was great, the staff were friendly and attentive. However, my only issue was that the bread used for the sandwiches was too thick, making it difficult to take a bite. I believe most people prefer thinner bread for sandwiches. View all feedback.
What lafebvrerie doesn't like about Hit Or Miss:
Let me just start by saying the staff couldn’t have been more pleasant or apologised more but my main was the grilled spatchcock chicken with asparagus £19 and that price sets expectations. I grew up with a Mum who cheerfully assassinated any food so I’m... View all feedback.
There was a good choice on the menu. The food was excellent:well cooked and well presented and hot. The service was also impeccable:friendly and efficient. The Hit or Miss has the perfect setting for a country pub:lovely location and the advantage of easy parking.Comfortable inside with good spacing of tables allowing one actually to hear the conversation of dining companions! The pub has a lovely rural setting yet is only a short drive from Amersham. Overall a classic English pub with good food and in a super rural setting. As a regular patron of Pubs in the Chilterns over many years,I would say the Hit or Miss deserves a top billing.
Victoria, Philip and the team served us an excellent afternoon tea for a large group celebrating my mother's 90th birthday
Was craving a roast phoned on the day and got a table for two. Great to see the pub thriving and doing so well. Staff are busy and all kept on ball. We shared a Foccacia Baba Ghanoush starter, this is a great dish guys please keep it on the menu! The bread was fantastic. My Veg Wellington went down a treat, a Yorkshire too that wasn’t all crisp it had some batter to it. Thoroughly enjoyed. All I would say is….. a little bit more cauli cheese and veg wouldn’t “go a miss” other than that… back soon! Keep it up!
The evening started off well, my wife and I had starters from the snacks menu, very tasty and good portion size. Washed down with a pint of Badger’s Tanglefoot beer. We had the tenderloin pork mains, I had four pieces of meat whilst my wife had two, to be fair it was tasty but not worth the price tag. Food served lukewarm. Whilst eating our starters a server offered other customers options available on the specials and variations on the normal menu. As this establishment is in a village it appears that the other customers were local familiar with how this business works. We cut our losses without having a sweet course. Paying the bill we were not presented with a itemised bill. I at this stage paid and left. We will not be back. A very disappointing experience not to be repeated.
Brilliant food, great beers and Phil, Alyssa, Lara, Elizabeth and Jess are superb. Roaring fire, comfy seats and authentic surrounding. Great place
