A delightful old style pub in the hills, a railway used to go past, discontinued in the 60s. The station across the road was the watering place for the Steam trains when they were running, the water came from a lake nearby. My family had lived in the area for approx. the last 50 years. Hidden jem ,great food fantastic service and love the oldy world decor.we will be back soon for sure
Great place, good food friendly staff, monthly events, weekly specials quiz night, plus daily specials.
What a wonderful country pub this is, well deserving the praise received from other visitors classic 19th century architecture and a rich history which is now celebrated with a great array of old photos inside. We went for dinner on a cold July night and were immediately struck by the warm atmosphere not just the temperature, but the friendly staff, the rich red carpet and the welcoming vibe. This was complemented by the table waiter service which is a great touch. On a busy Saturday night the service was still quick and the food very good we shared a tasting plate and squid salad. All in all a wonderful experience of old style hospitality.
