I had lunch on the terrace in early October. It was my first time in Ottawa. The terrace had a great view of a large lawn from a bygone era. The service was a bit slow, but the food was decent, though not outstanding. The dessert was excellent. The waiter was friendly and efficiently handled everything by himself - filling water glasses, checking in and out, and serving dishes. The lamb dish was nothing to write home... View all feedback.
What Helena Breuer doesn't like about Moorside Tea Room:
The food and drinks are bland. The service horrible. We will not return to eat there ever! We did not feel welcomed at all. Cost $10.00 to park and the prices are too high for the quality of food! View all feedback.
We visited the tea house for a special occasion (Mother's Day 2017). I knew in advance that the contractor changed last year and we were interested in meeting the new proprietor? Tegan
We were 2 adults with 3 children for lunch in September without reservations. We were accommodated. There were 2 large groups so the waiters were very busy. Our server did bring the children's meals rather quickly and the children enjoyed their grilled cheese and vegetables and hummus. Our meals came with soup and salad. I had the quiche and my husband had the smoked meat. Both were really good. We all shared the chocolate cake and the pudding chomeur. Both were delicious. Yes it was pricey for lunch but the food was so good!
Place your order and then come back in an hour. It takes about 20 min. to make the tea and 40 min. to make the quiche - - by which time you will have toured the grounds. If weather is cool bring a sweater - - the place is not heated. The food is served warm on a cold plate. Squash soup needs some work. Next time I'm bringing a thermos and my own sandwich or one from Subway.
Ambiance can't be beat. Lovely setting. Food very tasty. Just expect to enjoy nice food in a lovely setting; enjoy the vista from the windows. Service is gracious but a bit slow; imagine there are limitations to providing better service in the location.Suggest it be possible to drive a handicap person to the tearoom and then park the car in the parking lot.
The food and drinks are bland. The service horrible. We will not return to eat there - ever! We did not feel welcomed at all. Cost $10.00 to park and the prices are too high for the quality of food!
