The beef is highly recommended, but all the other dishes, including the vegetables, are also delicious. While some had high expectations and were slightly disappointed with the food, others found it to be excellent and the best they've ever had. The restaurant offers creative cocktails, high-quality food, and great service. Despite some minor issues with the doneness of the steak, overall, the experience was excellent. The fresh decor, comfortable seating, and innovative menu impressed both locals and out-of-town guests alike. The highlight for many was the quality and creativity of the dishes at such a reasonable price. Overall, this restaurant is a fantastic choice for a special occasion or a casual night out.
Great eating and personal! the best bark we had for years. difficult to find, even with gps as a sign on the door is microscopic. listing should say “Back 40 in timbercrest Farm” as the farm brandy completely concealed the back 40 characters. also, maybe they change menu item from “Bread and Butter” to “Freshly baked sourdough and Butter” or something along this line. we'll be back when we're in charlottesville!
Fresh decor, comfortable sitting, great service of maggie, cocktails were awesome, eating presentation was beautiful! each enjoyed their food soft dish crab, halibut, pork, steak and duck. Our local guests said they will definitely come back to enjoy the innovative and fresh selection.
Everything here is very good, but the true star of the meal is the cuts of meat. I don't think I've ever cooked such a perfect pork chop!
This restaurant was recommended by a worker who is local when I was looking for a steakhouse. the service was phenomenal. there are only 4-5 tables inside and only 1 other table was occupied. it is a very small setting so that they get the attention of the server. arranged a cup tini and his martini in a cup. I wasn't as interested as it tasted like an onion martini, reminded me of the old half-size. the ribeye had really good taste, but it was extremely chewing. there is no crash against the steak, perhaps because of grass-feeded bark. the cream and fat, where at the pick of the steak. overall it has a great atmosphere, but I was disappointed with the actual food, as I had high expectations.
Back 40 is amazing every time we go. New and creative dishes too. Just had one with soft shell crabs, peanut crusting, and pork. Wow.
