Feedback
Nestled in Belsize Park, this cozy café has garnered both loyal patrons and recent critiques. While its inviting atmosphere and friendly staff shine, culinary consistency has raised concerns. Many long-time customers lament a limited and more expensive menu, losing beloved classics. Dishes like scrambled eggs lack fresh ingredients, disappointing diners. However, the café excels in its pancake offerings and serves excellent coffee and tempting desserts, making it a solid brunch spot. With competitive local options, it's crucial for the establishment to heed customer feedback to maintain its charm and community support, ensuring it remains a beloved neighborhood gem.
I have worked in Belsize Park for several years and Chamomile was always a favorite spot for a cup of tea (their Teapigs are the best) or coffee and a slice of cake. I have also heard amazing things about their brunch, but I have never been able to snag a table during that time of day!
This café is conveniently located near my apartment, so when a friend came to visit while my apartment was being renovated, we decided to drive here for lunch. It is a bustling neighborhood café and we were fortunate to find a seat quickly. The staff were all very friendly and, despite the busy atmosphere, we were able to have a pleasant conversation without feeling rushed. The menu is perfect for lunch or brunch. I opted for a goat cheese salad while my friend tried one of their brunch specials. My salad had a unique twist but was still delicious. However, my friend was not as impressed with her brunch special and felt it was overpriced compared to the quality. It was a nice spot to relax and chat, although we did feel slightly rushed to leave once we finished eating. This is to be expected in a busy café though.
We came across this restaurant by chance while searching on Google and it happened to be close to our Airbnb, so we decided to have breakfast there on Thursday. It took a little while for the waiter to come over to us, but when he did, he was friendly and attentive. I ordered my own avocado toast with eggs and speck, along with one of their green juices. Although I usually don't order coffee, I decided to try it and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The juice was refreshing and just what my tired body needed. The food was served promptly and was fresh and delicious, with generous portion sizes. They also have a tempting bakery section where you can order treats to go or enjoy with your meal. My friend had a almond croissant and claimed it was better than the one he had in Paris the day before (he tends to exaggerate, but you get the idea). I highly recommend this place for breakfast if you find yourself in the area. I would definitely return.
This was my first visit after the lockdown and I am delighted to say that Chamomile has upheld its exceptional standards. The food was fantastic as always, with diverse and delicious dishes that were beautifully plated. The coffee was also delightful. It is undoubtedly the top spot for lunch on England's Lane. While other newcomers are great for coffee and cake, Chamomile still offers their incredible pecan pie.
The café was nice, but the service was rather slow. One staff member appeared to be working hard and served us promptly once she was available. However, other staff members closer to us were preoccupied with sorting cutlery or simply ignoring us as they walked by. The drinks were enjoyable, but the banana bread we ordered was a bit dry and heavy. I am undecided about whether or not to return.
