Boxwood Cafe - Calgary
Boxwood Cafe
Description
A popular new Calgary hotspot, Boxwood Café offers lovely ambiance and friendly service. While the use of local products is commendable, the food is deemed overpriced and not as flavorful as expected, leaving diners feeling underwhelmed. From a hipster tap water charge to small portions, the cafe falls short of delivering a truly memorable dining experience. However, the beautiful patio and charming setting make it worth a visit for those seeking a picturesque atmosphere. Overall, Boxwood Café has potential but might need some tweaking to fully impress its patrons.
Feedback
I brought some American guests to River Cafe on their last day in Calgary because I wanted to show them one of the city's most unique restaurants. River Cafe, located on an island, is a great spot to experience the local cuisine.
Our hotel suggested this restaurant for my birthday celebration. We were looking for a nice place with a great atmosphere and made reservations in advance.
The service was nice. I always admire friendly wait staff who work so hard for relatively low wages. The food was just ok - nothing to go back for. The 2 people who appeared to be the owners or managers were off to the side having a casual meeting/supper and did not make a good impression for their restaurant. They were poorly dressed and acting way too casual. It's a small cafe and everything is noticeable. We were glad to stop in and experience the ambience but won't be going back or recommending it.
I really enjoy the ambiance at this restaurant. It feels like being on a small island or in a cozy town, and dining at a welcoming Canadian eatery.
The food was Great and he service was good. We just had lunch so We ate sandwiches and salad. I think my favorite part was the salad, but I do love me some greens. I love what they stand for, I think that drew me in more than anything else. I would eat here again, maybe next time with more time to really sit and enjoy the food instead of rushing to eat and leave. the Only downfall I would say is, don't go if your expecting a quiet lunch in the park especially on a hot day. There were kids running around in the fountains screaming, I love kids so I didn't mind but I am sure some people did.other than that it was a beautiful place to eat!
