5S17 is a Japanese fusion gem in a bustling neighborhood. The open concept kitchen offers a front-row seat to the culinary magic. The menu boasts unique dishes like sushi burritos and hot dogs. Appetizers like pork dumplings and beef tataki set a high standard. Main courses like teriyaki burgers and ramen bowls impress with flavor and creativity. The desserts, especially the Yuzu creme brulee, are a sweet delight. The staff is friendly and attentive, with the owner/chef taking the time to engage with diners. While some dishes may miss the mark, 5S17 is definitely worth a visit for a tasty and fun dining experience.

Visited to finally try Ramen. Given it was my first try dont have anything to compare it to but the two soups (Inferno chefs special) were tasty and I would absolutely try ramen again at another restaurant for comparison $14 seemed a lot for soup, but very filling. Also had duck confit tacos as an appetizer - very flavourful, interesting presentation. Limited wine/beer menu, very exoensive bar menu. Atmosphere would have been better with more customers there - we were only ones dining on a Sunday night at 6pm which I found surprising. They have a sushi burrito which sounds interesting. Give it a try.

Staff were wonderful, great atmosphere and location. Unfortunately, our food was not up to expectation given the price. Ramen tasted like packaged instant noodles, instead of having a rich bone-type broth. Appetizer was pricey for the small quantity. Lastly, japadog was disappointing and the mayo was too oily. Menu items looked fresh and interesting though it didn't totally deliver.

Business experience, meets service experience, meets culinary experience.I was super excited to check out this venue. I happen to LOVE Beef Tataki and Creme Brûlée - both of which were on the menu!Visited the restaurant on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Sat at the bar, which gave us a front-row seat of the Chef in the kitchen, as well as let us people watch through the big window. We started with a Buddha Beer, a red wine and the Beef Tatakti - mmmmm! The garlic chips are almost addicting...Husband ordered a Ramen with a chicken base and added a chicken thigh - crispy deliciousness. He didn't speak until he was done with it - it was that good. The Soy Chicken was recommended to me - and I was happy I made that choice. Chicken was done to perfection - crispy skin and juicy meat. The soy-ginger-garlic sauce that accompanied the dish, was unreal!Topping off our lunch date, was a the Yuzu Creme Brûlée - not-too-sweet, creamy, slight tang, and perfectly caramelized topping.YUM!!Looking forward to our next stop into 5S17!!
