The burger was really disappointing. Salad quite average and not many inventive non fried options on the menu. Very average pub food. So many better options in the eastern suburbs. I'd hoped for something nice after the revamp. There's really no excuse for poor quality food in this day and age. Not good value either

May 2018 updates, rating 3 The once asian inspired menu has now changed into a less inspired pub menu with small plates and more classic large plates. There are also pizzas but nothing very different from a fancy pub. We were underwhelmed by the food, although taken as pub food, it was nice, but no longer interesting. The service was nice but on the slow side. Before 2018, rating 4 We went 2 times and really enjoyed the asian inspired food. We loved the Barking Dog wine, for us it was a really nice experience, and we will go again for an easy no fuss date night.

I made a phone booking the day before to a disinterested person, however there was no record of it when we arrived today for breakfast. Food was slow to arrive despite it being a quiet morning. None of our party of four enjoyed the food; three of us could only eat half of our meals. The croissant was dry and overcooked and the two buttermilk pancake dishes were stodgy and doughy. We informed the staff that our meals were of poor quality but the response was careless. Very disappointing after experiencing an enjoyable lunch there a month ago.

I've visited this place a few times over the years, and I've always had a good experience. While the food isn't particularly outstanding, I do think the portion sizes could be slightly larger. However, the chips are consistently excellent—crispy and just the right amount of salt, just as they should be! The quiz night on Mondays is a fun addition, and during the day, the pavilion makes for a pleasant spot to relax. Surprisingly, the coffee is quite good as well. Overall, it's a charming pub in the eastern suburbs, with a lovely atmosphere and a decent menu. I'll definitely return, especially for quiz night on Mondays!

Simple well maintained pub complex set up with a recently built ~50 seat enclosed beer garden attached to a vintage two storey hotel with cafe next door and very pleasant decor throughout. The big screen in the beer garden is good for sports, and I've seen footy and soccer displayed. There's also a refined restaurant in the original building, something I'd like to do in the near future if I can find a good reason. Staff are friendly and the selection of tap drinks is good but they recently underwent some changes, removing some of their more special choices. Those choices weren't delivering in terms of sales I guess. I understand there's accommodation upstairs, and I've been told that you can view before booking. Covid might have changed that temporarily, but I like the idea of a small collection of well maintained rooms. The seating out the front of the cafe is wooden picnic style with umbrellas that shade mostly in the middle of the day, but if you get it just right with the sun setting and a gentle breeze blowing through, it can be very nice indeed. It was my regular for a long time and my situation changed some time ago. Now I'm meeting a friend there regularly and even if we change the arrangement I think I'll just keep going there regardless, it's a good place to chill.
