What Carmela Ver dislikes about Oxalis:
Pretty good food but not my favorite Michelin star restaurant. I really only loved a couple of the dishes we tried. Most things were bland and underseasoned. I expected more for the price we paid. The service was good, but a little slow. I probably won'tcome back since the experience was mediocre at best View all feedback.
You can enjoy a high-end dining experience in Brooklyn without having to leave the borough. The service here is exceptional; from the host to the busboy, everyone is friendly and dedicated to making your visit as enjoyable as possible. We unfortunately missed the chance to try the chef's selection and opted for the regular menu instead. The quality of the food matched the outstanding service; we particularly loved the house-baked sourdough bread, black bass, and pork ribs. I also personally enjoyed their cream puff dessert. However, I would recommend passing on the cheese and cold cuts—not because they weren’t good, but simply because they didn't measure up to the quality of the other dishes relative to their price. Overall, it's a fantastic restaurant, and I strongly recommend making a reservation.
I stumbled upon this restaurant during my first visit while attending an event nearby and arrived a bit early. I was pleasantly surprised by their housemade sourdough bread—it was fantastic—and their housemade soda was also impressive. I enjoyed it so much that I arranged a dinner with friends to explore more of the menu, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The ingredients were skillfully combined, resulting in dishes that were rich, layered, and creative. My standout dish was the short rib, which was sliced to perfection and incredibly tender—almost melting in my mouth. The cabbage salad was also noteworthy, with evenly brushed sauce on each leaf that struck a lovely balance in flavor. To top it all off, the cheesecake was exceptional, making it a perfect choice to conclude the meal.

Excellent food. I’m a vegetarian. We did a round of chef tasting cocktail pairing. Cocktail pairing for every dish was outstanding. Highly recommend if you’re looking for chef tasting.
Went to Oxalis to try their Michelin starred tasting menu at dinner. Some of the snacks were just good, but the Chaterelle with buckwheat and kelp was definitely a flavor experience, it was delicious. The main dishes had interesting flavor combinations, and the fish and beef were to die for, just melting in the mouth. I did not get very impressed with the deserts overall, Iexpected more. Service was good, but with past experiences in these kinds of tasting menus, I thought the time between servingsfor the main courses were longer than expected. The ambient was the real let down for me. I sat on a table very close to others, and felt inhibited and constricted. The dining room was also hot, and I sweating throughout a good portion of the night, probably because the A/C was not as high as it should, and I was sitting near the kitchen. The food experience was from good toperfect depending on the dishes, but the experience could be better overall.
