An absolute jewel in the neighborhood for foodies who dig Dim Sum (small plates). A hot spot on 65th street to sip tea, connect with others and enjoy tasty treats. You can pick your dues from one of the steam carts, order dishes from the kitchen or walk to a bar to pick up a plate. A grand banquet that could fit up to hundreds, it is usually packed on late morning and early afternoon. Friends and families gather and... View all feedback.

What KaLe E dislikes about Affable Eatery:
I specifically ordered a vegetarian dish and made it clear to the waitress that I cannot have any meat. She repeated my order back to me, assuring me there would be no meat. Unfortunately, when the dish arrived, it had meat in it. To make matters worse, the same waitress tried to convince me that the meat pieces I was removing were actually vegetarian. Great dim sum; no complaints on anything I got and they kept the tea coming. Was surprised by a new dim sum I tried: steamed blocks of julienned taro, was quite good.Everything was nice, hot, and fresh. Just make sure to come before 11am on a weekend or holiday if you don't want to wait over an hour.

I have been coming for years and it has yet to disappoint. A great place for my kids to discover the beauty and history of chinese cuisine.

Eventually, she had to admit that it was indeed meat, took the plate back, and got the order right the second time. By the time I received my correct dish, everyone else in my party had already finished eating. Overall, my experience was disappointing. When it comes to vegetarian options, it felt like a joke. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else where you won't have to constantly check if your order is correct.

I dislike giving negative reviews, and I rarely do, but I genuinely urge you to steer clear of this place. There are two nearby dim sum restaurants that are far superior, and I highly recommend checking them out instead (Park Asia and East Harbor Seafood Palace). My friends and I visited during the mid-autumn weekend because the usual places we frequent had over a two-hour wait. In search of a new spot, we were surprised to find no wait at this restaurant, which should have raised a red flag. Upon being seated, we noticed the establishment was quite run-down. The television displays were advertising neighboring businesses, and the overall cleanliness left much to be desired, not to mention the poor sanitary rating it had. We ordered the standard dim sum dishes and were greatly disappointed. Many of the usual items seemed to have replaced proteins with substitutes, likely to cut costs. We encountered something that appeared to be fried shrimp, only to find it was actually fruit? Who serves fried fruit with mayo at a dim sum restaurant?! The staff pushing the dim sum carts were aggressive, trying to foist stale, unwanted dishes onto our table, especially after the fried fruit fiasco. One of my friends ordered a coconut dessert pastry and requested a spoon to share. After asking for one, the waiter chuckled and handed us a fork instead, saying, “I think you meant fork”? The service was appalling and honestly a source of amusement. We ordered a large plate of fried seafood noodles to share, but they instead brought us beef chow fun. Not only did they get our order wrong, but the food was incredibly bland as well. I have no intention of returning, and I would advise others to stay away too—especially if you don't fit the typical dim sum customer mold. We were a group of Asian Americans who spoke the language, and we did not receive great treatment. I can only imagine how others might fare, likely being presented with old and subpar dim sum dishes without any warning. Affable eatery? More like laughable.

The food was pretty good. Very good portions. We went for an Lunar New Year school event. The server kept clearing our platters for the next course before we could finish. I was sad when he took away the sweet sour pork.
