If you're going to stay at a hotel, then you want one with character, something that Hatton Court has plenty of. Set in a beautiful part of Gloucester, it had some stunning, expansive views, and if you're fortunate, you'll get a room from which you can enjoy these. The grounds are pleasant, which some huge pine trees and well kept lawns. There's a nice decking area and marquee. Inside, the lounge area is comfortable, though there was a slight gassy smell. There are a few cosy corners you can tuck yourself into to relax with a drink from the well stocked bar. The rooms are well kept, neat, very clean. My bed was comfortable, and I slept well and undisturbed. It was lovely and quiet. The staff really do the place credit, so friendly and helpful. They make you feel really welcome, and nothing is too much trouble. I felt well looked after. It's great that Hatton Court is a dog friendly hotel. And even then, it is so well maintained that we didn't see any sign of previous four legged guests. There is one area I feel could be worked on to really make the hotel worthy of a 5 star rating on service and that is the catering for vegan or plant based guests. I did not feel well fed from my meal, and an evening buffet had no options for me. Similarly, there wasn't a vegan breakfast option, without having to be picky and omit elements of the available menu. It maybe that there are options or adjustments that could be made on request, but these days, with the range and choice for vegan eating increasingly mainstream, there's no reason to treat it as a specialist diet to have to ask for special arrangements for. I'd gladly stay here again, it is a lovely, comfortable, cosy hotel. I'd just come prepared with my own breakfast and food. Rooms: Clean, tidy, well maintained. Desk, fridge, TV, en suite. Food drinks: Good range from the bar, soft, alcoholic, non alcoholic, coffee. Typical hotel menu and breakfast. Needs better, distinct vegan options. Noteworthy details: The views and setting. So beautiful. Dog friendly. And the staff, the staff are lovely!
Bit isolated but quiet for that. Rooms were spacious and warm, clean and tidy. Lovely views from one of the three terraced, wedding marguee slightly obscured the others. Overall very nice. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet
