What Anonym dislikes about The Bakeologists:
I cried a bucket of tears when the old Village bakery closed, but decided to try your bread after some months which is great if a little overpriced. I then ventured to try a coffee but deep down knew what it would be. I wish...you could provide some decent coffee and close it in with a bit of air conditioning. You certainly would have a lot more customers. If you brew up a good coffee I might actually come back and h... View all feedback.
IWanted to love it. They don't make chicken and mushroom pies, that's fine. Ordered the roast chicken pie. It would have been great if salt/flavour were added. Pastry wasn't so bad- great lid, mushy bottom. Partner got a cow pie we- both agree that a little salt goes a long way. Staff and sweet cabinets were on point. Add a little salt and I'll add a few more points. once again, staff make me return
Coffee was passable here but the accompanying almond croissant was much better fare. They have a variety of baked goods here & seem to sell a lot of the pies. There is an area in which to sit so I gladly rested my weary legs there with my takeaway
Stopped into The Bakeologists in New Farm to sample their artisan bread and pies. After much deliberations, I went with the Roast Chicken Dinner Pie ($5.50) and a Focaccia ($1). The Roast Chicken Dinner Pie was a little lite on the chicken, but the potatoes, peas and corn worked well with the thick gravy and had good flavor. The only negative was the overpowering flavor of sesame seeds - the top was covered - but otherwise this tasted like a Sunday chicken roast dinner in pie form. This rated a 3. The price of the Focaccia wasn't listed, so I may have chuckled when she told me it was only a dollar. This had a nice crisp crust and a chewy centre. This too rated a 3. I was planning to go with a scrambled egg and bacon panini, but spied the homemade tomato relish lurking. Unfortunately, these are pre-made and I couldn't get one without the relish. I like the fact that they are proudly family owned and operated - the staff was friendly and attentive.
Discovered this bakery when I explored the next door Savour Cafe two week’s ago. Kept my promise to visit it so made a trip in the morning.Upon arrival, there were some customers lined up for orders so I joined the queue. I aimed to taste its pie so ordered a chunked beef one. Then I drove to another cafe for a take away flat white before my tasting.Well, shape is different from a traditional round shape but oval instead. First bite with the impression of not so soft but not hard texture of the pastry. However, the filling and gravy are the heroes. Chunked beef is soft with slightly spicy from Indian herb. Overall the pie has its characteristic taste but $5.80 seems too pricy. Otherwise, a higher mark will be deserved.
This place is sweet friendly staff, cool warehouse type decor and the baked goods are good for a bakery. They have a slightly uniformed, factory feel to their pasties which is a shame but then again normal these days) however their chocolate smooches are filled with the most beautiful and thick ganache and their caramel tarts are topped with lustrous, thick caramel that's a perfect balance of sweet. <br/ I haven't tried their savoury but I do see that the sausage rolls are pretty dear for the size being sold! <br/
