We had an amazing Valentine dinner here. One of the best Thai food we have had. Everything was just delicious and so was the service and free entertainment of Thai dance was a bonus. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $140–160 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We came here in a group of 4 people and got a table pretty quickly (less than 10 minutes). My first impression was that mostly local people come to this Thai restaurant, as I couldn’t see any Asian customers, which was probably a bad sign from the beginning. We ordered 2 dishes and three drinks: jumbo seafood for 4 people, pineapple combination fried rice, lemon iced tea, and Thai iced tea. The jumbo seafood comes with coconut rice, but it was extremely disappointing when we saw the portion size. All of us thought the jumbo seafood was for 2 people because the amount of seafood was very little for 4 people, especially considering the $99 price. We had to confirm with the waitress whether the jumbo seafood she served was actually for 4 or 2 people. To be more specific, each person received half of a small crab, 2 tiger prawns, 1 mussel, 2 pieces of squid, and maybe 2 to 3 small clams. The clam shells were also broken into smaller pieces. I guess they used pre-boiled seafood and simply stirred and mixed it with the sauce because the seafood didn’t taste fresh at all. It was also quite cold, not steamy, as if it had been left out for about 20 minutes before being served. The coconut rice didn’t have any coconut flavor either, just steamed rice. On top of that, it took nearly 30 minutes for the food to arrive. The pineapple fried rice tasted decently good, but they used the core of the pineapple to stir-fry the rice, which was slightly hard and sour. The lemon iced tea tasted like plum juice, and the Thai iced tea was very similar to winter melon tea. Overall, I don’t think I will return to this restaurant again. If the quality of the food were good enough, more Asian customers would definitely come here. It was really disappointing because today was also my boyfriend’s birthday but the food from Phat Boy was too bad. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–40 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2
I had lunch at Phat Boy today and ordered the duck and sweet potato yellow curry, which was absolutely delicious. The duck was crispy with succulent meat that fell off the bone. I chose the medium spice level which was perfectly balanced — sweet, creamy, aromatic, and full of flavour. I’ve also had the beef massaman here before, which was very tasty, spiced and tender. They also have some set menus that are great value. The location is convenient on George Street and the service is consistently fast and friendly. Phat Boy is always a great choice if you are looking for Thai food in the city. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
I must say, the food was absolutely delicious, but if you do not have a taste for sweet and savory dishes, be cautious! I ordered the roasted duck laksa noodle and it tasted more like a dessert than a main dish.
I’m quite certain that the design, the decoration and the best combination between Thai traditional and Thai modern. I do believe everyone will be experienced in Thai culture without travelling to Thailand or going to the kitchen. They intentionally design not only the stunning environment but also the fantastic foods that you can be experienced such as D.I.Y. Somtom Thai milk tea Laksa, most of which can make by yourself. Apart from that, there is a KUNG-TUNG which is trendy Thai street food at the moment.
