Malt Dining - Brisbane
Malt Dining
Description
Malt restaurant offers a high-quality dining experience with a varied range of dishes. The starters, such as the focaccia bread and BBQ octopus, were delicious, with the Duck and Beef cheek mains receiving high praise for their preparation. However, some diners expressed disappointment in the lack of accompaniments with the mains and found the side dishes to be pricey. The Scotch bar downstairs stood out as a highlight, with knowledgeable staff and a great atmosphere. While some reviewers noted slow service and issues with noisy patrons, the staff received high praise for their efforts to create a romantic dining experience. Overall, Malt provides excellent food, service, and ambiance, making it a great choice for a special occasion.

We had a 7:45pm reservation last night and unfortunately weren’t seated until 8:15pm. It then took until 10:30pm before we were able to leave. For a set banquet costing $241, and with a booking secured in advance, this was very disappointing. It felt like the restaurant had clearly overbooked, as wait times seemed to be an issue across the board. There was very little effort made to manage or mediate the situation, and not even a complimentary drink was offered given the delay. The food itself was great — we genuinely can’t fault that — but the overall experience was overshadowed by the long wait and lack of acknowledgment. Hopefully next year numbers are capped more appropriately, as I imagine many guests would have left feeling just as dissatisfied due to too many bookings being taken for what the venue could realistically handle. Enjoyed the lunch set menu at the Malt Dining Bar. Service was great, the food was delicious. The restaurant interior was welcoming, we had a good time! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $80–100
Quality of the food was very good. Foccacia bread starter superb, good serving size BBQ Octopus starter delicious , serving size for price was just acceptable Main course Duck beautifully cooked and seasoned Main course Beef cheek fantastically moist and melt in your mouth. Only real criticism, is that the mains come with absolutely no real accompaniment. You get the meat and some sauce, and NOTHING else. You are 100% obligated to order multiple sides in order to compile a total meal experience. Some of these sides I would deem to be quite expensive for what they are. If you are taking a main, plus 2 sides then you are looking at $70+ for a main meal . The food, service and ambience were nice. I would suggest from a budget perspective you are probably looking at $150 200 per head for a typical dinner for two dining night out, higher depending on your wine choices/
Fantastic food, great intimate atmosphere and excellent service. I would recommend it, especially for a special occasion
Felt it was very under staffed, we were sat quickly but probably the worst seat which i was suprised as walk ins got better seats. took around 20- 30 minutes and no one had spoke to us had to stop a waitress to order a drink, she didnt no the menu at all and had to ask what cucmber was, very poor service over all. food was nice but over all i wouldnt return for the poor/lack of service
