Fat Dumpling - Brisbane
Fat Dumpling
Description
A trendy and cozy restaurant in Fortitude Valley offering a variety of delicious dumplings. The experience was enhanced by the friendly and helpful staff. However, some customers found the portions to be small and the quality of certain dishes lacking. Despite some mixed reviews, many enjoyed the broccoli and carrot salad and the vegetarian dumplings. The open kitchen contributed to a homely atmosphere, making it a go-to spot in Brisbane for some. Some customers experienced issues with glass in their food, which was promptly resolved. Overall, the restaurant offers a good dining experience with fast service and reasonable prices.

Last night was my second visit to Fat Dumpling, both of which were enjoyable. The first visit I came on a date and the second visit was with a large group. Both times the service was excellent, staff were friendly and fast considering we had ordered so much! The restaurant can be hard to spot the first time as there aren't really any big signs outside and that makes it easy to walk past. Inside the restaurant is quite dim and felt stuffy but was able to cool down with a nice drink. Food wise, the dumplings were beautiful. Last night I tried the salt and pepper squid as well. Those were alright but it was literally just deep fried squid with salt and pepper sprinkled on top... I thought it was a bit bland for the price and should have been served with sauce at least. Otherwise really lovely meal!
Outstanding dumplings, the XLB is AMAZING!!!! Went on a monday night, service was above and beyond. For the quality of food i felt the prices were more than reasonable. 2nd visit and will be back.
Best dumpling spot in Brisbane hands down. I'm actually from Sydney and I reckon it beats all the spots there too. Friendly staff, great and quick service and UH-MAZINGGG dumplings
Flavour of xiao long bao is nice but the dumpling skin is thicker than traditional XLBs so the top is a bit chewy. Steamed dumplings also nice. Pan fried dumplings were a little dry. Vegetarian spring rolls were definitely the standout. Overall was good but not amazing.
The waitress with the braided hair is definitely worth the trip alone, she's amazing : <br/ <br/ The food is phenomenal. Constant morsels of delectable nom noms. Atmosphere is light and casual while having a sense of comfort. You're attended to, fed well, and head home feeling like a bit of a Fat Dumpling yourself ^ ^
