While some have enjoyed attentive service and a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of an Irish pub, others have found the food and cleanliness lacking. Dishes like the battered cod and Jenga chips fell short of expectations, with repeated issues of incorrect orders and poorly cleaned tables. Nonetheless, specialty items and afternoon teas garner positive remarks, and the dedicated staff strive to provide a memorable atmosphere. Despite the critiques, many appreciate the overall luxury of the hotel, promising a worthwhile visit.
We absolutely love everything they offer at this restaurant! From the marmalade to the ginger beers and the delicious chocolates. Everything is top-notch and reasonably priced.
Our group really enjoyed the live music and great atmosphere in McGills it's not your typical hotel bar, instead it has a real character and is a destination in its own right.
During my stay at Powerscourt, I visited the bar and was absolutely impressed with the service. The bartender made sure that our cocktails were perfect, while Konstantino came to our table and was delightful to chat with, ensuring our visit was flawless. The floor staff were also very attentive and provided excellent service. This was definitely the highlight of our stay! I highly recommend a visit to McGills to anyone looking for top-notch service and a great atmosphere. All our requests were met promptly and nothing was too much trouble.
My husband and I booked a 5-star accommodation for his 50th birthday, expecting a luxurious experience. Unfortunately, our dinner at McGills bar and restaurant was far from exceptional. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table that had not been properly cleaned from the previous diners. We both ordered crispy battered cod with jenga chips, pea puree, and capers. The cod was disappointingly soggy and grey, with little flavor. The thick cut chips were stacked like a game of Jenga, but lacked both taste and enjoyment. The pea puree, while aesthetically pleasing, did little to enhance our very disappointing dishes.
First impressions was not good, it was small, cold, virtually in a basement with little natural light. Handful of tables with a very poor and limited menu. Had to wait for a table as non hotels guests were having food that I met in the pool area earlier that live and are members of pool from Eagle Valley. Tables should be reserved for hotel guests only especially under current Covid rules for our safety. Staff seemed new and had little knowledge of their simple tasks. They actually got our orders wrong, items missing off our plates like relish with the burger and salad with the fish. Simple items in a small venue should be straightforward to deal with. Overall this is only a small example of how bad the hotel is. Would never enter the carpark again.
