Called in for a quick plate of chips and a cuppa around 1pm on a rainy Wednesday. Initial impression was good. I placed my order and the tea came almost immediately. Then the bill. Then shortly afterwards the chips came. The portion was SO small for the £4 that I questioned it. And was told that they didn't have complaints about the portion sizes. I explained that I was not happy but they refused to change anything. There were 9 chips presented in a small tumbler on a small plate. 44pence per chip?!. Service charge also Not included. Group of 7 and 2 kids and a couple with 1 kid turned away at 6:40 when kitchen closes at 7 and restaurant at 8. We were then told last orders were at 6:45 we knew what were we having before hand and were still told no. Nick was very rude, unprofessional and couldn’t come up with a legitimate reason for not letting us in. Checked online the hours had been updated for Autumn and the signage around the whole restaurant, totally unacceptable was going here this evening and tomorrow for lunch but now will never return. Visiting for a family lunch, we were expecting to be the ‘awkward vegans’ requesting this is swapped out with that, etc. However, the waiter came back from asking the chef what could couldn’t be done, and the manager appeared and presented us with a full vegan menu! Over the moon! He said he’s been really pleased to have it, and they have a lady who makes vegan cakes (who was our vegan waitress! . Tried the calzone (huge! one of the many pizzas (with 3 types of vegan cheese! . They didn’t have cakes this time but we were too full anyway!
