Feedback
The restaurant is located in a beautiful setting and offers good service, although some reviewers found the food to be lacking in quality. While one visitor praised the ambiance and service, others reported a decline in quality over the years. The staff were described as grumpy and inattentive by some, while others mentioned long wait times and overpriced food. However, there were positive comments about the beautiful location and friendly atmosphere, with some reviewers highlighting delicious food and great service during their visit. Overall, it seems that the restaurant may have some inconsistencies in terms of service and food quality, with mixed reviews from customers.
Amazing place right on the beach. Went for lunch and sat out in the sun. They seemed a bit short staffed, but were all very nice and helpful. Yes, we did have to wait a bit but it was worth the wait. The food was really good. We had squid, Korean wings and a chicken sandwich with chips. All very tasty and nicely presented. Will definitely return!
Visited today for lunch and overall it was a poor and vastly overpriced experience. We had to wait a long time to be seated but that would be expected in a particularly busy service (it was averagely busy). The staff were grumpy staff and seemed to lack any motivation. The food was barely average, I ordered a roast vegetable pizza but the vegetable toppings were barely cooked at all; my partner had a chicken burger which was fine but overpriced for what it was. The pizza came from a different kitchen to the burger so arrived at different times (this is fine but no one thought to tell us this when we ordered). It took an age to catch someone 's eye to get the bill and then a further 10 15mins for someone to bring it and pay. No one in this time offered to take our plates, or ask us if we wanted anything else or even how our meal was. The tip is also automatically added to the receipt so I had to ask not to pay it. Not worth the £38.75 our meal and drinks cost in total. AVOID unless you want overpriced food and poor service at a beach location.
We had a brilliant corporate event, hosted by the amazing Anna. It was the perfect afternoon friends and colleagues came to help us celebrate our company birthday. Food was great, drinks were cool and the location was simply stunning. Bournemouth looked at its very best, as we had the upstairs terrace doors open and sat there looking out over the sea whilst catching up with everyone. Thank you Andy, Max and in particular Anna for ensuring the event went so smoothly.
Went here on a Wednesday afternoon, for a birthday lunch. Didn't reserve because, well, it was a Wednesday. Stood outside with 3 other couples for 15 minutes waiting to be seated, when there were clearly plenty of seats, but they won't let you just go in. We left at the 15 minutes point. If it takes that long to seat you, how long to serve you? Perhaps they were short of staff, and I can sympathise, as a lot of folks are these days, but we weren't going to stick around to find out and we went elsewhere. Shame. Used to like coming here. Normally I am very pleased with Urban reef.. Having eaten at this restaurant over a 15year period. I personally think the food and service was better when we first stated going there, but unfortunately they fell way short of expectations this time roand. As said we having been going there for 15 years now, mainly on my wife's birthday. Bournemouth/Boscombe beach is her favourite beach to visit and Urban reef has always been the restaurant if choce. This year was a big one, her 50th and in true fashion, we booked a table with the restaurant a few weeks in advance and traveled down from Bromley as normal to spend a day and night in Boscombe and do as we normally do, have a meal at Urban reef. We arrived on time and found that the restaurant upstairs which we assumed was where we would have booked a table, was closed to a private function. The dining downstairs is more informal and has a different menu, so we were not able to order what we were hoping to order. The seating downstairs is also not as comfortable , is very noisy because eits by the bar and the food options limited. If we arrived without a reservation as most folk did that evening, we would have gotten a seat anyway, by loos if it. The service of the bar/ restaurant are not well trained as the main restaurant and so the service is not as what we are normally accustomed when we dine here normally. The staff were not friendly, inviting and manured as normal. They knew from the booking that this was a birthday celebration and at no pint from the booking date to the eving of us attending, were we told that the main restaurant would be closed. I'm not sure we will go back next year again after this. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
