Description

The restaurant at Bournemouth Carlton Hotel offers a varied menu with great veggie options. Starters like garlic mushrooms and calamari were highlights. Mains had generous portions, but some failed to impress. The Barolo wine improved throughout the meal. The venue's appearance was shabby, and the food quality was disappointing for some diners. Service was a hit or miss. On the other hand, guests on a dinner, bed, and breakfast package enjoyed a satisfying meal, good service, and a busy breakfast. Overall, the restaurant offers a traditional atmosphere, friendly staff, and tasty dishes, making it a worthwhile dining option.

This charming restaurant located inside the Bournemouth Carlton Hotel has a traditional atmosphere. The tables are nice and there is no loud music playing, making for a pleasant dining experience. We always enjoy our visits here as the staff are friendly and attentive. The fillet steak with pepper sauce and fries is top-notch, comparable to other places we have dined at (4 stars). I also tried the lasagna and found it to be delicious. My husband particularly enjoyed the tomato soup.

First off, absolutely no music or anything. Very haunting eating in silence or whispers as couples and families are very conscious everyone can hear each other. Starters were good, with large portions. Nachos especially good, calamari rather salty. 5/10 Mains huge portions again, but quantity over quality. Very standard lasagna and a bbq hunters chicken burger with chips. Burger was massive, but lacked bbq sauce and the quality of burger was very basic nugget like, as a burger connoisseur I rarely ever fail to finish, but alas this burger had plenty leftover. Cheesecake to finish describe as honeycomb, but was more of a New York with no evidence of honeycomb. Service was mixed, very polite and attentive staff, however a couple of lapses. Wife ordered a lime and soda and got a lemonade with a lime wedge, second time round they got it right (after forgetting she ordered one for 10 minutes) Disappointing but luckily was included in our spa hotel stay so didn’t feel as bad dining here.

We ate at Frederick's restaurant for our wedding anniversary whilst staying at the Hotel. Friendly staff and we were not rushed food was great we both had prawn cocktail to start (could have been a bit more Marie Rose sauce, for mains I had Pulled Beef and Mushroom Wellington and my Husband had Butter Chicken Curry both were very delicious and a good size portion and because it was our anniversary they gave us complimentary desserts so we chose Banoffee pie and the warm Belgian waffles. Overall a lovely meal in a calm atmosphere.

Very quiet only 1 or 2 other guests in restaurant around 6:30. Was able to talk easily as noise levels were low. Patê starter was delicious, we also had calamari that was standard not very crispy. Mains were a bit disappointing. They came out looking lovely. Fish tasted a bit odd. It wasn't cod maybe plaice or haddock thought I would check menu but it actually doesn't state which fish. If it did I would have gone for something different but being by the see I would say cod is a staple choice everywhere to be served. It didn't taste fresh like it was frozen and refried. Batter was very chewy. However chips were fresh and tasted nice.also had vegetable curry sadly no taste and very watery which was a disappointment again. This was a meal that came included with our hotel stay had I had paid for this as a separate thing I would have complained. We were asked if everything was ok but as it was so quiet we didn't feel right to complain.hopefully something they can work on with serving fresher food. Servers were friendly this could be a great place if food was fresher.
